Unless I missed it, this report left out the fact that rays do jump into the air, so it is conceivable that one could accidentally land in a boat. Not understanding this may be why the author seemed puzzled that a ray would jump into a boat. Also, it doesn't appear that the ray was "attacking" but was defending itself when it felt in danger. At any rate, it was a horrible experience for the man and the women who were with him. I hope he'll be okay.

Yeah, the headlines are misleading. The ray jumped onto the boat then stung the guy when he tried to get it off the boat. The headlines act like the ray jumped onto the boat & stung the guy in one action.
