I have been able to sit through many of sick and twisted movies (such as "Cannibal Holocaust," "Salo: 120 Days of Sodom," "Irreversible," and the "Guinea Pig" movies as well), and I have also heard many of nasty stories in my time. But a few nights back, my friends told me a story that I will never forget.
I feel kind of embarrassed posting this message, since this is the first time I've posted at this forum in months. However, Snopes has done a very good job at finding fact from fiction, and I just can't help myself but to ask.
Anyway, my friends told me a couple of nights ago about a sick story that happened in "somewhere in Europe." Apparently, a man cut off his penis, and ate it together with another man.
Sick, isn't it? Anyway, I became so sick after that story that I had to excuse myself to the bathroom to wash my mouth out with water, because I felt like I was going to throw up (though, my Grizzly-chewing tobacco might have helped with making me feel sick). But anyway, this was a story I couldn't get out of my mind.
As much as I wanted to forget, I just couldn't. My friends and I are notorious pranksters, but I could tell that they weren't making that story up just to mess with me. But then again, something of this matter could easily be false. So I decided to do a little research myself.
I typed in a brief keyword discription of the story in the webcrawler search engine, and found the following articles:
Though none of these articles fit the exact story as my friends told (which I never expected to see), the story about Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes easily comes closest.
I'm surprised that a story this grotesque never came into Snopes' hands (or was it too grotesque for Snopes do to research on?)
In conclusion, I just have a couple of questions hoping you guys may help with:
1. Why hasn't Snopes covered this unforgettable story. And will Snopes do so one day?
2. What would drive somebody like Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes to do such a thing? Surely, they are both sick. But an issue that went this far; there must have been something in their childhood (etc.) that drove them to this point.
3. Does anybody know a guy who doesn't have a penis? I mean, this is something that happens, but you just don't hear about it. I kind makes you wonder.
Anyway, sorry for the disturbing topic. I wouldn't just share some random-assed horrorify sick story on the internet. But there's an exeption to this story. Being a male, I gotta know how another male could live without his penis, and also how somebody could do that to themselves.
Once again, sorry for this sick story. I promise more of my topics will be "normal".

I don't think the Meiwes/Brandes story has been covered because it's pretty well-documented to be true, and thus not a disputable legend (that's my guess, anyway). It's the only story of its kind that I've heard.
As for your second question, God knows. Some folks read too far into symbolism, and their sexual fantasies consume who they are. For your third question, here is an example. (Story NFBSK)
Rammstein has a song (first single released from their newest album "Reise, Reise") about the Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen Brandes legend, titled "Mein Teil" meaning "My Part." Here are the lyrics (also referencing childhood) complete with the original posting by Meiwes that attracted Brandes.
Strange days, indeed.

I worked with Bernd Brandes a little. We worked for the same company, he in one of the German offices, and me in one of the US offices. He would occasionally fly to the USA to train me and others in my group on the use of a piece of equipment (an ISDN protocol analyzer, for those in the telecom business). You can imagine we were pretty freaked out when we heard what happened.

Dobers, I've seen Dead Alive a long time ago (before LOTR came out; you can see PJ has change a lot). I must say it was gross, but not nearly as bad as the ones I listed in my opinion. Have you seen Braindead, it's the same movie, but rather everything (including deleted scenes) are put in there making it about 120 minutes or so. I hear it's really good, but I have yet to see it.
I'd like to thank you for your response, Western Fallout. I find out your response very helpful, for it answered most of my questions.
As for you, Revtim. That's a great story. Hard for me to believe, but then again I have no reason to assume you're lying to me. I gotta know, what was this guy like?

Berlin is a city in Germany.
I can't say I knew Bernd enough to say what he was like. I really only remember that he wore jeans and a white t-shirt everyday. Whenever the Germans came to the US, they always stocked up on the jeans, I think they are much more expensive in Germany for some reason.

Randy, the story you were told was definately the Meiwes/Brandes story. If you Google German cannibal, you will find all kinds of stories on it. He just went to trial a few months ago. And yes, he did cut off the mans genetalia and they cooked and ate it together.

I remember hearing about this story when it came out. It is so distrubing, you may wish it were legend, but it is true.
I don't wish to refresh my memory with the details of the case, but to answer one of your questions: Being a male, I gotta know how another male could live without his penis, and also how somebody could do that to themselves.
He didn't live without his penis very long. Shortly thereafter, he died and was butchered by that other guy (intentionally not remembering his name). I believe there were still parts of him in the freezer when the "butcher" was arrested, IIRC.
You can look up the details if you want. There are quite a few credible news stories.

I had an acquaintance several years ago who told me one drunken night that he didn't have a penis 'cause it had been bitten off by a cow when he was a teenager. The story he told was that he was being a stupid 14-year-old and trying to see if he could get the cow to give him a blow job (he grew up on a farm).
I wouldn't have believed it at all, but his brother, who is not given to exaggeration, hyperbole, or any sort of mendacity, confirmed it when sober, so I still wonder whether it was true.

Wow, HazyCosmicJive, that's quite a story. I know you're not curtain if it's true, however, does the guy seem like a normal guy or what? Like, does he seem like a happy person; and does he check out women?
And because this topic is still getting replies, I'd like to add another story I heard:
I heard (from someone, who knew someone… yeah, yeah, not any reliable sources) that some guy came into a Chevron station one night, went into the bathroom, cut his penis off, left the penis in the sink, and then left. When the employee went in after the guy came out, he found the penis in the sink and report it to authoritize, and was later able to positively-identify a suspect. Has anyone heard this story?

Sorry about the delay in reply - I often disappear from this board for weeks at a time.
Anyway, I haven't seen this guy in about six years, but he seemed fine. He said it was just something he'd had to get used to 'cause that was the way things were. He had a girlfriend as well, but I never had the nerve to ask her for her version.

Thanks for the response Hazy. Your delay is cool. I disappear for months, so it's no thang to me.
