Lebanon Mayor Bob Anspach was trying to do a good deed and help a gravely ill child.

Instead, he became the unwitting victim of a persistent hoax that uses a fictional sick child to prey upon the heartstrings of the public.

My first thought before reading the article was that he fell for a nigerian scam.
