This Spring I took a semester of Geology and realized that many of the stories atributed to giants can be explained through geological phenomenon. The story that interests me the most is the story of the Giant Bolster. According to this story Bolster fell in love with St. Agnes who did not love him back. Tired of his constant she told him to fill a giant hole with his blood. Unfortunately this hole lead into the ocean and he bled to death. The hole is still stained with his blood. My question is where is this hole and are the red staines sandstone. If anybody else has some giant legends that can be explained please contribute

Valandearl, do you google your questions before you post them here? I ask because a lot of the questions you've asked in the threads you've started in the past couple of days can be answered with a 15-second web search.

I have already been to that page. In fact that's were I got the story from. What I am more concerned about is the why of the matter. I have tried to look up articles about the geology of Cornwall but can't find anything about this. I am also finding it difficult to find the explanation for the formations at Wookie Hole Cave. Wookie Hole Cave is a cave in England that supposedly has a rock formation that resembles a witch as well as a lake filled with neolithic bones called the Devil's Stewpot.

Giants are known as Nephilims in the Bible. Also there was bones found in South america(or somewhere over there) on humans at about 11 ft tall.

"Nephilim" technically means "the fallen ones", and the term does not have anything to do with size. "Giants" is usually put in the Bible now for a lack of a better definition, as it were.
As for another giant ledgend, the Epic of Gilgamesh speaks of the creation of the Rift Valley in Lebanon as being made from the wrestling of the hero Gilgamesh with the monster/giant Huwawa.
