This isn't exactly glurge in the traditional sense, but it seems to fit this catagory better than any other. I get this kind of thing all the time. Just lucky, I guess. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether Dr Phil had anything to do with this test. I reminds me of those 20 question surveys they gave us in Junior High that were supposed to help determine our "individual career employability profile." Do corporations really rely on this tripe when hiring? As a consumer, I'd like to think they'd hire whoever is most qualified to do the job, regardless of whether they cross their legs when relaxing.

Well, I got a 46. After reading the descripiton, it sounds like that is exactly the sort of person I'd want to be anyway. It's a nice test. I'm not sure how acurate it is, but I'm happy with my results.

It sounds like something they'd publish in Glamour under a title like, "How freind-fab ar you?"

People are always wondering how others will see them, so tests like this are common enough and veiwed as necessity by some.

The real question here is if the test is how others will see you or how DR.Phil would see you.

Dr. Phil has no business seeing me like that! [Eek!] Only my cat and my husband sleep with me, so how relevent are some of these questions in reguards to general society?

I am a 35 which is fairly acurate.

My biggest problem was question 9 as well

Because I am

c) on your side, slightly curled
d) with your head on one arm
Plus one foot streched.

Does that mean that I add the points [Wink]

46, which, like resEchildrenchildrenLution is how I *want* to be viewed, more than, perhaps, I actually am.

Question 9 was a bugger for me, too, since I'm usually sprawled all over my b/f...poor guy!

That's pretty much accurate except for the fact I am not very modest. [lol] I scored 36 btw.

Actually, the way you sleep can say a lot about you,as some doctors claim. Some like to tell you your personality just based on how you sleep.I frankly think it's a load of bull, but I do remember some of the positions they analysed.

Sleeping on your back is known as the King's position, and apparently you are a normal person who fits in with society,or something like that.

If you are sleeping with your head under the covers you are hiding from somebody,or in other cases, the world.

And if you sleep in what's known as the Lion's position,(I think that's what it's called)as in curled up into a ball with your back facing the ceiling, you are classified as someone who is trying to protect yourself from intruders and you don't want to fall in a deep sleep. To some doctors you are even mentally unstable [Eek!]

I scored a 51 (which seemed sort of right)... I found some of the questions not specific enough though and found myself flipping between two answers:

quote:
Originally posted by The Letter A is Yellow:
2. You usually walk...
a) fairly fast, with long steps
b) fairly fast, with little steps
c) less fast head up, looking the world in the face
d) less fast, head down
e) very slowly

When I'm exercising? When I'm walking to work (and I'm a bit late)? My walk across the street to coffee? Walking at the mall, museum, park? They're all different walks to me...

quote:

3. When talking to people you...
a) stand with your arms folded
b) have your hands clasped
c) have one or both your hands on your hips
d) touch or push the person to whom you are talking
e) play with your ear, touch your chin, or smooth your hair

Erm... none of these... I stand relaxed with my hands at my side or behind my back (one hand holding the forearm of the other)... I ended up picking "e"... because I sometimes do that... I think.

quote:

8. Which of the following colors do you like most?
a) Red or orange
b) black
c) yellow or light blue
d) green
e) dark blue or purple
f) white
g) brown or gray

What does my preference in color have to do with how others view me?

quote:

9. When you are in bed at night, in those last few moments before going to sleep....
a) stretched out on your back
b) stretched out face down on your stomach
c) on your side, slightly curled
d) with your head on one arm
e) with your head under the covers

Again... none of these... I sleep in the "recovery position".

quote:

10. You often dream that you are...
a) falling
b) fighting or struggling
c) searching for something or somebody
d) flying or floating
e) you usually have dreamless sleep
f) your dreams are always pleasant

g) naked

So, I guess in that case it would be c) because I'm always searching for my clothes. [Big Grin]

quote:

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

Actually, this hit pretty close to home (IMO). Maybe I can be someone else when I pick a different color!

Overall though, this was a fun quick test... thanks!

^ just wanted to use that icon --

now, back to the test:

quote:

> > 2. You usually walk...
> > a) fairly fast, with long steps
> > b) fairly fast, with little steps
> > c) less fast head up, looking the world in the face
> > d) less fast, head down

What if you walk fairly fast with your head down? (which is what I do)

quote:

> > 4. When relaxing, you sit with...
> > a) your knees bent with your legs neatly side by side
> > b) your legs crossed
> > c) your legs stretched out or straight
> > d) one leg curled under you

I guessed that (d) was closest to "both legs tucked up under you" -- but this posture is due to the fact that I am short. If I have a low chair, my legs are more stretched out in front of me.... does this mean that out personalities are controlled by furntirue size to leg ratios?

quote:

> > 9. When you are in bed at night, in those last few moments before
> > going to sleep....
> > a) stretched out on your back
> > b) stretched out face down on your stomach
> > c) on your side, slightly curled
> > d) with your head on one arm
> > e) with your head under the covers

I used to sleep flat on my back -- but then I developed bad back ache -- so now I sleep on my side, slightly curled. I have a slightly lordotic spine, with a bit of a twist in it, and I think this contributes to my back ache.... so, my back geometry (ie slightly deformed) defines my personality?

quote:

> > 10. You often dream that you are...
> > a) falling
> > b) fighting or struggling
> > c) searching for something or somebody
> > d) flying or floating
> > e) you usually have dreamless sleep
> > f) your dreams are always pleasant

What do you choose if you dream often, your dreams are a mixture of pleasant and not-so-pleasant, but none of them fit any of the other descriptions above?

btw, I got 39, answering this the best I could. I don't think anyone thinks I'm modest [Wink]

38 or 40, depending on whether I have the flying dreams or the searching dreams. I generally have one or the other -- sometimes both.

I liked my score, too (37). The overall description fits OK, but I'd love to see the rationale for some of these questions. I can certainly understand the relevance of how you behave at a party or react to something funny, but what does sleeping posture have to do with anything?

Yeah, I have to agree with that one. Reading over the "personality profiles" at the bottom of the quiz, they appear to be highly subjective. If you really wanted to know about someone's personality, I'd be more interested in their thoughts than their actions, because actions are viewed in so many different ways. For instance, depending on the setting and who they're meeting, a person who is quiet and does not make eye contact can be viewed as either shy, or snobby. Someone who completes a task very slowly and checks everything twice could be seen as cautious, careful, and practical. However, it could also be because the person is shy, nervous, and self-concious, and therefore paranoid about messing up. It's really all in the interpretation.

41. Truth be told, I'd say that a 39 would probably have been more accurate, but I may have been thrown by this:

quote:
7. You're working very hard, concentrating hard, and you're
> > interrupted.....
> > a) welcome the break
> > b) feel extremely irritated
> > c) vary between these two extremes

The answer was "none of the above" or, more accurately, "depends". I put a, because I'd be very unlikely to react in a hostile way, and if I did feel irritated, it'd probably be only mildly so. Really, though, it'd depend on what I was doing, what the interruption was, how long I'd been doing it for, how many other interruptions I'd had (especially if by the same person/thing), and so on.

I got 41 which barely fits me at all. I would love it if people did view me like thjat though.

Mind you I was answerig questions for how I act now, whereas ask me a year ago and my score would've probably been much lower. I used to walk with my head down or very very slowly all the time, and had dreams which weren't terribly pleasent too.
