My first post... [Smile]

I've been interested in subliminal messages for awhile. Yesterday I was reading that stuff here on Snopes and at Subliminal World and, when I was pretty much done I picked up the Cherry Coke can I just finished and looked at it... "Hmm, I wonder if theres a message on here...?" "If there is one I bet it's in these dots/bubbles." And I may have found one...maybe. It works ALOT better when you actually have a can with you, but my friend with his paint skills tried his best...With an actual can look for the 'S' shape and follow it up with the 'E' and 'X'. Friends said they saw it, but weren't quite sure...Some thought it was the real deal, but I thought I'd try the experts on here. Even anyone not good at spotting this stuff should be able to find the 'S' shape...

Am I missing something here? The link seems to be a garbled mix of text....

Do you have a pic of the can, and if so, can you post it here?

Ahh, sorry. Should work now. I tried taking a picture, and then where I sharpie'd it, but it turned out all blurry. Grab a can if the picture doesn't convince you.

Continuing to demonstrate that if we look hard enough for a pattern we'll eventually find one.

Eh...Yeah.
Somewhat reminded me of the Pepsi Cool Can thing.
Except S-E-X there was more visible. [Razz]

I don't see S-E-X but I do see S-R-O (look in the bottom right of the close-up for the R and O). If I get a sudden compulsion to buy women's shoes I plan to blame a Coke/shoe industry conspiracy.

I see "SL-T". I'm trying to find a U between the L and T so that it can say "SLUT", but I'm not seeing it. Not seeing "SEX", either.

I saw the SEX but only after being told that it was there.

I think it's just a random pattern. As a little kid I was terrified of our old wood panelling because I saw scary troll faces in the wooden whorl pattern. I think it's like that. If I had been looking for things NFBSK in that old panelling at that age, I probably would have found them too.

For some reason this makes me think of the old white and gray marble top altar that we used to have in our church. There was a little part in those gray and white swirls that I swear looked just like a skull...a monkey skull.

This leads me to ask...what was the Catholic Church trying to tell me? [Razz]

I also saw SEX only after being told it was there. To me it looks more like S Sigma Tau, though. Maybe it's a secret fraternity sign. [Smile]

yeah...it has to do with the mind being told something was there. If you had posted a blown up picture of that section of can and just said "tell me what you see", the answer would be nothing (or "S", seeing as how it does look like that)
Mostly there is nothing there to see, unless told.

I always thought subliminal messages were used to encourage people to buy the product. If you can't see the subliminal message until after you buy the product, then what's the point?

There's no Subliminal Message on a Coke can or anything esle for the odd reasons of:

1. They don't work

2. Other than a few obvious joke ads- they don't exist.

They are part of the "tinfoil hat brigades" beliefs.

I didn't see that, but I saw a chick shooting mouthlets out of its ass.

I'm really, really sorry for this post, but for some reason I couldn't help myself. Go on about your business now. Nothing to see here.

When I was a kid, wood paneling in my house freaked me out too. I was always seeing scary alien faces! Does that mean Mother Nature is trying to sublimenally manipulate us into beliveing that we are not alone in the universe? [Big Grin]

Getting back to the orignal post: I see a vague "S" and that's it. Reminds me of those fuzzy pictures Wilson Bryan Key would use in his books, ones in which I could almost never see any sort of lettering at all. Then, Key would put another image of the picture next to the first, only with magic marker all over the picture showing where all the "hidden SEXes" are. Dunno, but I never was able to see the vast majority of them.
Slightly OT but something I've been wondering for a while: What ever happened to Dr. Key anyway? He wrote three books in the course of a decade, and then seemed to vanish from the face of the earth. Is he still out there, finding orgies in fried clams?

I can clearly see the 'S' in the close-up. Then there is what looks like a 'C', but could be an 'E' with some effort. Finally, I see where you got the 'X' from, but it's confusing since it's reversed out of the background, unlike the other two letters.

Then lightning struck... Bad lightning.
