John (a.k.a. Bunny) has been scratching/biting his cage ever since we got him, about 6 months ago. His cage is a plastic one, and he's destroying it. And driving me crazy. He'll sit there for a good 30-45 minutes just scratching and biting. Most recently at 4 this morning, as I was trying to sleep on the couch (Mr. D has strep, making him snore even worse due to the swollen throat).
I owned a bunny way back when I was a kid, and we had a drop-tru bottom for him (like a bird cage bottom). I wanted to get one for Bunny, but Mr. D wanted the plastic one instead. Is there anything I can do to deter him from scratching? DOYC only knows when hubby will get over his strep and I can sleep in the same bed again. Should I just get a drop-thru bottom cage?

Lydia, Thank you so much for the link! I just placed a paper towel tube in his cage, and he's happily chewing it! There's some good info on that cite. Maybe I'll have DH make a bunny box for him. With all the boxes we have in the garage, I'm sure he can come up with something.

You're welcome! I'm looking into getting a rabbit myself (I posted here about it), so I've been doing some reading about them. I think that site probably has some of the best information out there.
