Approximately 11 million bottles containing varying quantities of acetaminophen 500mg caplets are affected by this recall.

Perrigo originally informed FDA of this problem after discovering through their own regulatory quality control procedures that their tableting equipment was wearing down prematurely. The company is also investigating the cause of the problem. The ongoing investigations have revealed the presence of the metal fragments in caplets of acetaminophen, 500 mg. Perrigo reported to the FDA that 70 million caplets were passed through a metal detector; resulting in the discovery of approximately 200 caplets containing metal fragments ranging in size from "microdots" to portions of wire 8 mm in length.

Wouldn't you know it, I have a bottle that is being recalled. I wonder if I should look throught the bottle and see if I can find a caplet with some metal in it.

I have some, too, but it hasn't been opened, as I take arthritis meds and am not supposed to take much of anything else for pain relief, but I keep a small bottle on hand for other people and do take it very rarely, myself.
Evil_eyes, I've bought store brands for many years and only wish I had discovered them sooner. I've saved a lot of $$ on them. This is the first time any of the store-brand products that I use have been recalled, and you might note that name-brand products are also recalled at times. So, go ahead and keep saving that money! Just be alert to news stories like this.

I don't have any this time but we usually get the store brand from WalMart. I have a lot of family and friends that do also. I rarely send out a mass email about things but this is one of those times I did.

I notice that after taking them I have had bouts of runny poop. I am not sure if it is link to the pills or just my luck. Suffice to say that I am not taking them anymore. I will still by off brand tylenol especially the off brand for rapid release tylenol.
