I hate computers. Seriously. This new thing that it's doing is driving me absolutely batty. Every time I try to open AIM or iTunes, I get this lovely *coughcough* message.
When I open AIM, I get it once. When I open iTunes, I get it well over 300 times (I have to restart the NFBSKing thing), one for every song that's on there. Then, the stupid program doesn't even run!
It's bugging me, because AIM is a) how I keep in touch with a friend/boyfriend of mine while he's 6 hours away from me and b) how I contact people in my classes about studying, assignments, and exams--as well as rehearsals and other necessities--without using the prepaid minutes on my cell phone.
iTunes is how I keep my iPod running so I can go to the gym and not have to listen to a bunch of people around me grunting and panting.
Any computer savvy people know what I gotta do?

It sounds like you have some significant malware. Here's what I would recommend: 1. Dump AIM and get Yahoo! or MSN (AIM seems to be a gateway for all variety of malware). 2. Run some spyware removal programs (Spybot, Bazooka, Avast! are all good and free). 3. See if that works.

Do you have an anti-virus program installed? That would be a good place to start also. I agree with AnglRdr about aim- however, I would suggest trying gaim. (Use the 1.5.0 release). That way you can still use your aim id, and keep the buddy list you have. (You can also use MSN or Yahoo through Gaim).

dsound.dll is the Microsoft Direct Sound Library file. You may need to upgrade the version of DirectX that's installed on your system. This can be done via Windows Update.

I tried the spysweeper, and the problem persists. I tried reinstalling both AIM and iTunes, and it's still happening. I also tried doing a virus scan and it's still doing it. I even tried Windows Update and installed all the updates, and it didn't work.
This is giving me a headache.

Oh, and please, please get rid of AIM. That piece of software is evil. Use Gaim or Trillian, which don't install adware and spyware on your system, and you can also use your AIM id.

It won't let me download DirectX because of the same message.

Try this. They're the drivers for DirectX 9.0c, the latest version, and it may let you download the files from here because it isn't on the Microsoft site.

I've never ever had a problem with AIM. Long as I run the spyware removal scans I'm fine. In fact oddly enough the last scan I ran came up with NO spyware. Will have to tr it again.
Trillian is a good alternative too but has its own set of problems/woes/issues.
To be honest...go with what you like. You are always going to hear positive and negative about ANYTHING. I don't always listen to those who keep saying "Oh but its Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad". It it were me...I'd be sticking with AIM and dumping MSN! MSN is just as bad or worse than AIM but I keep it because most of the people I talk to NOW are on MSN not AIM.
