I live with a very nice girl who isn't all that tidy. She has a pet cat named Baby.
Right now the entire condo smells like cat pee and it's making me nauseous. It isn't my duty to clean Baby's litter box, though I have on several occasions. I am also the one to feed her cat, even when she's around. And on top of that, he usually sleeps with me.
It's been about a week since his litter box has been cleaned. I left my roommate a message, begging her to clean it out before she left for work today, but all the poopies are still in there.
I don't know if I should clean it myself or talk to her about it. I don't want to be rude, but god, the smell...
JUST CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR FRIGGIN' PET!!!

If someone doesn't clean it, Baby may well take to going elsewhere. They don't like "making" somewhere dirty.

It sounds to me as if you are now a cat owner, inkiemouse. Congratulations?
If you don't want to be a cat owner, you need to confront your roommate and tell her that either she both feeds and cleans up after the cat, or the cat goes.

Tell her that if she goes 3 days without cleaning the litterbox, you will consider that a request for you to do it. If you do it, it will cost her $20.

I had a roommate like this, only she had two un-neutered male cats. Before I moved in, she left them alone for a month. Her boyfriend at the time came over to feed them, but refused to clean the litter box. She told him they'd be okay (for a month?! I didn't hear about any of this until after the fact, otherwise I would have taken care of the poor babies). They took to peeing in the kitchen. After that, they pretty much peed where ever they wanted if their litter box was full.
She didn't get them neutered until we moved into a house and the new lessor insisted they be. Didn't do a darn bit of good... they'd already learned to spray. There were days I just wanted to let those cats outside, maybe they'd be adopted by a more responsible owner.

You really need to talk with her. Tell her this isn't your cat and it's not your responsibility to clean up after her. It's not fair to you or the cat.

...and if she thinks $20 is worth it and pays you, double your price next time.

XD
That is an excellent suggestion!
Thanks, guys. I've already talked to her about it in the past before, and she hasn't done anything about it... I'm moving out in three months anyway, but I don't want my last three months here to be smelly hell.
Also, I noticed she didn't take out the garbage while I was at work.

My roommate called me from work and asked me if I'd take Baby when we move because she can't take him with her. AHAHAHAHA. I guess I am a cat owner now.

That's kind of what happened to our cat. Her owner moved out and left her with her roomate. The roomate didn't want her so she left her at The Humane Society.
