Christians strip to build a new Eden Tony Allen-Mills, New York IN THE beginning was the word of God and God never said anything about brassieres or boxer shorts. Thus was born Natura, America’s first Christian nudist camp.
After two years of biblical debate over Adam and Eve and their fig leaves and whether or not nudity is sinful, a 67-year-old Quaker grandfather is preparing to open a modern-day Garden of Eden 40 miles north of Tampa, Florida.

I don't know about mixing nudism with christianity, but this statement in the article caught my eye:
quote:Martin’s supporters also claim that nude worship is much more in keeping with modest Christian values than are the ostentatious displays of wealth on show at the suburban “megachurches”, where women attend services in “designer clothes and $90 haircuts”, says one internet posting.

Very afraid.

I happen to live in one of Central Florida's many nudist resorts and we are not about sex at all, even though Martin seems to think that unless it is a "christian" camp, sexuality is the basis for being there. He's way off base with that one. Anyway, unless you've been there, don't knock it--you might like it.

Okay, they discussed the Eden story. Did they discuss Noah and Ham?

I don't think anyone here is "knocking" nudist camps. I think this whole thread is about discussing the mindset of how Christians view nudity and how it brings up thoughts about sex.
So... since you live in a nudist resort, I take it you're not posting a profile pic?

But not so much because I am about nudism so much as I am *not* about ironing.

I guess that is a major misconception among Christians and non-Christians alike. We live in a very comfortable family-oriented atmosphere where people don't even have to lock their doors when they go on vacation. At this point in my life can't imagine living anywhere else. And to answer that ever present question: Yes, we put clothes on when it gets cold!! LOL
About the profile pic, I don't know how to add it.
Aside to AnglRdr, we prefer Resort or Camp to colony! Also, if you saw some of our residents you wouldn't be saying that about ironing! LOL

I tried to (and no im not creating an account for that). They ask for a donation (using a service in London) before they let guests look at the photos.
I did not see any indication of a registration fee though.

They ask you to register and/or make a donation but if you scroll all the way down there's a link to the galleries.
Kind of wierd though, each album seems to also contain a short essay about Christain nudity spread out as the captions of each photo, even though the text often has nothing to do with the picture. I guess he figured it was the best wat to get people to read it.
It reminds me of that Dr. Bronner guy a bit.

And while nudism may not have much, or anything to do with sexuality- guys are guys and gals are gals. Being a christian doesn't mean it's a good reason to run around naked, but to each his own.

And I've seem some pretty jumpy people when it comes to worship services...
quote: “As evidenced by Adam and Eve, we believe that when God’s children are in the right relationship to Him, they will be naked and unashamed,” explains one of Natura’s brochures.
IIRC that was before the first sin- or at least beore "the fall". Humans aren't there anymore, nor will they ever be again. He sounds like he's saying it's ok to run around naked and if naughty thoughts come of it then it's because you're not right with God. I know people who aren't christians who aren't afraid of being nude inpublic, so what's one got to do with another?
This guy is, for lack of a better term- nuts.

Sorry, but after checking out their site I'm not buying the whole "naked is good and Godly" crap. While obviously anyone can access their site, they seem to have a problem with whom they're reaching.
Most interesting are that the galleries are supposedly "articles" with a few words under the pictures. One is geared towards teens and depicts several nude teen and what are IMO pre-teens. (I guess this is for those teens who just have a desire to run around naked in public but don't know how to talk to their parents about it.) Under each picture is a view count. The average count is roughly 6-10 thousand hits. Oddly enough several of the very young girls have hit counts that double that, and the highest view count that I noticed was a pic of a group of nude teens posing together. There's also a teen looking guy with a pretty high count.
So yep, nude christians are great especially if they're underage. Posts: 687 | From: Grand Rapids, Michigan | Registered: Jul 2005

I looked at the photo gallery, and I have to say I did find some of the pictures of most-likely (some definitely) underage people creep me out a bit.
There are a few that look no different than soft core porn*, such as one of a pretty blonde girl with pretty good sized knockers looking upwards while holding a large shell conveniently below her boobs. It could very well have been taken innocently, but it seems odd how many of the pictures of attractive females look more posed and of better quality than some pictures that really look random but happen to be of people with bodies that would not be considered very sexy. That's just the way it looks to me, I'm not trying to really say whether this site is on teh up and up or not.
*To clarify, they look very posed, more professionally taken than just a quick snap of a happy Christian on the beach.
ETA: I just looked at more pictures, and I feel genuinely disgusted. I don't think a close up of a crouching 11 year old will bring me closer to Jesus. I need to wash my brain then go watch some good old fashioned adult movies to get the images of naked children out of my mind. *shudder*

Agreed- looks like many are just pics they pulled off the web. And the fact that the section is targeting teens is even more disturbing. This guy needs his ass kicked. Posts: 687 | From: Grand Rapids, Michigan | Registered: Jul 2005

According to them
quote: You will see natural affection, by way of smiles and occasional hugs, but nothing more. You will see an occasional erection, for that happens naturally also. But you will see no enticing shots even inviting the thought of eroticism. That is not what we are about. Our posed shots are primarily in the art collection, for naturists also enjoy good art. But it is in no way pornographic in nature.
You know, somwhow I just feel like if you ever have to make a "it's not porn, I swear!" disclaimer concerning pictures you've posted of children, something is wrong.
