:grumbles: Maybe I should have put this in Rantidote? My eternal pain in the ass of an ex-husband was rifling through my room this morning, as he does, and he stomped all over my iBook. The screen is shattered, and it's virtually unusable.
Being my link to everything important, I'm quite keen to fix it ASAP. Has anyone ever done this themselves? I'm waiting to call for estimates, but in the meantime, thought I'd throw it out there.
:pouts: Thanks in advance!

I work in IT. We almost never replace screens in-house. This is because the screens are difficult to source and very expensive. However with Macs they tend to be easier to get your hands on. The actual mechanics of it are quite simple.

It doesn't sound unrealistic. He probably has connections with (or actually is) a company that deals with off-lease equipment, which would give him access to a large amount of screens.
If those specs fit your laptop, I'd recommend that route. You'd be hard pressed to find one cheaper, especially since he throws in labor as well.

I don't think that a smashed screen is covered under applecare. Plus the OP already contacted Apple anyway.
