MINNEAPOLIS -- A male firefighter is the latest person to sue the Minneapolis fire chief, who is lesbian, claiming that she discriminated against him because he is a heterosexual man.

No mention of what the other lawsuits are about, either.

Here's more info on the previous lawsuits, from our local free paper. The whole thing is quite a soap opera.

Wow. I have no idea what to make of this mess.

Thanks for the article...it seems like there's quite a lot of drama there. The lawsuits are only scratching the surface.

Any particular reason they didn't just fire her?

The last article linked says that:

A bad reason? Yes.
A bad decision? Hard to say. It could be that she's an excellent firefighter who just didn't belong in management. She's too young to retire, so somebody is probably going to have to work side by side with her in some job or another.
According to this, she has a history of back problems. That could be a reason for saying that this compromise is wrong. However, I think that demotion is a significant punishment and that we go too far in this country in the way of grinding people into dust because they acted wrongly.
If I hear next month that she turned around and filed for permanent disability, I'll look at it differently.
