Can't believe I'm the one starting the Doctor Who thread...
So with Series 2 wrapping in the US recently, it was pretty sweet to have that big hanging cliffhanger with Catherine Tate resolved.
I didn't like it as much as last year's The Christmas Invasion. But I did like it overall. It was a hell of a lot better than Torchwood's been turning out.
I particularly liked that they addressed how bloodthirsty the Doctor can get. He's been number 1 on my "List of People I Will Never Piss Off" for a few years now, and stuff like drowning an entire race is why. I thought it was important that Donna mentioned he needed someone to stop him. It reminded me of way back in Series 1 with the Dalek he tried kill, only this time we saw the conclusion of that level of anger. David Tennant can hit a eerie balance between being jovial and being murderous, and he got it there.
Catherine Tate acquitted herself, but I can completely understand why she was a one-off companion. I could not have taken a whole series of Donna.
The trailer for Series 3 is nice, but dangit, can we just put a Dalek moratorium on the show after this series? They're not surprising when they show up EVERY YEAR.
Oh, and the total fanboy moment towards the end was awesome.

Yeah, it was fun. Not Earth-shatteringly good, or anything, but fun.

The rumours are that the deal the BBC worked out with the Nation estate means that they have the rights to use the Daleks for 3 years, but no longer. As such, I don't blame them for using them as much as they can reasonably get away with in those three years.

I suppose that would explain it. I suppose after that would require another contract, but that would be a GREAT time for a Dalek moratorium, IMHO.

I was going to make a post asking how this episode was. Being in the US, we just got the 2nd season finale a couple of weeks ago. I really liked Rose and will miss her. I hope she at least makes a cameo in later seasons. That's what I love about this show, it can go from cheery to serious in seconds. I also loved that eerie version of the theme song they played. You know what? It would just be easier to say I love everything about this show.
I can't wait for the 3rd season (sorry, I just can't bring myself to call it a series, I'm hopelessly American). I just wish the DVD sets weren't $100.
Does anyone know if Torchwood will be coming to the US anytime soon?

I should also maybe point out that the Daleks are going to be in 1930s New York, so that should be rather cool.

No idea, but I wouldn't get too excited, as it's generally not been very good.
On the other hand, the trailer for The Sarah Jane Adventures yesterday made it look fantastic.

And what's with the ' 3rd'? I seem to remember seeing the 3rd series ( ) in about 1965 when I was 'nobut a lad' (as my mum used to say).
Oh, and I too enjoyed the programme, but I am glad that Catherine Tate will not be a permanent companion. I have never seen her show so I did not know whao she was, but I kept hoping that would remain on earth as the doctor headed for pastures new.

Army of Ghosts and Doomsday was on SciFi this past Friday, and I thought Runaway Bride would be this Friday.

I thought what I affectionately refer to as "Dalek/Cyberman Face Off" was it until the third series. Are they going to show "Runaway Bride" soon?
I'm a long-time Whovian, and I've been in total heaven with the latest couple of series. Christopher Eccleston won me over to the idea of a new series, and David Tennant has won me over period. I cried at the end of the latest series, particularly when Jackie went running down the beach to comfort Rose.
Boy howdy was my love for that two-parter put in jeopardy, however, when I realized that was blinkin' Catherine Tate in a wedding gown in the TARDIS. How DARE she! I'm sorry, but I've seen some of her shows, and I personally find her highly irritating. I was relieved to find out she's more of a "one-off," and we're going to get someone else as the actual companion. Gah, it's so hard to sit here in the US and know it'll be who-the-hell-knows-when before I get to see more!

Runaway Bride ran in Britain - I haven't heard anything of a US run, but if you're an impatient freak like me, you can download it. Otherwise, Sci-Fi has announced Series 3 for the summer, and if they handle it the way they handled Series 2, then the Christmas Special will lead it off. Still, it will be a *very* quick turnaround since Series 3 will either still be airing or have just finished.

Ah, ok. I assumed from your post that you'd seen it on TV already, and I was kicking myself for having missed it.
Thanks for the reassurance.
