* Ditto RelicMan's comment about Transformers... I was very excited about this, and even willing to give Michael Bay the benefit of the doubt. However, the more script and visual spoilers I see, the more skeptical I get... I think Bay may have really missed the point. We'll see. Either way, I'll be overseas when it comes out in theaters, so I'll probably first see it on DVD when I get back.
* Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. I'm... counting... the.. freaking... days! I am VERY eager for this... and it's projected at a 2008 release, so I'll actually be here in CONUS!
* On the textual side of the house, Harry Turtledove's final entry in the Settling Accounts series, In At The Death. I'm really curious to see how he wraps it up.

Like everyone else, the new HP book. Also, I can't wait until Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D comes out. I loved the original, so I'm hoping this one will be as good, if not better. As for games, I shamefully admit to wanting Viva Pinata. Not so shamefully, I really want the next Elder Scrolls game (if they even make another).

Almost all of mine have been mentioned. I'm looking forward to Spider-Man 3, The Dark Knight and Transformers. I'm also psyched about the possibility of another Punisher movie starring Tom Jane. On the videogame side of things I'm looking forward to SmackDown! VS RAW 2007 for the PS2. I'm also looking forward to getting Superman Returns and Clerks II on DVD.

Eagerly awaiting the finale of "Deadwood" (only for the resolution. Totally pissed it was cancelled)
[hijack] Re the King movies - the ones that made good movies were not necessarily not horror ("Misery" was an awesome movie) just not huge novels. "Stand by Me" & "Shawshank" were 2 of the 4 novellas in "Different Seasons." "Misery" and "Carrie" were two of his shortest books. There's just too much in a normal book of his to do it justice on the screen.
If they ever make "Dark Tower," which I hope they don't because see above, I would much rather see an unknown as Roland. That way he'd bring no baggage to the role. [end hijack]
Also, thanks to whoever mentioned the Dark Tower comic book. Wasn't aware of that and will be looking for it.

The Green Mile was done excellently!! But I agree with the rest of what's been said about King's books. You need to know way too much about his characters and it's hard to show all the emotional trauma they go through in two hours. Which I guess would explain why TGM was about three hours long!
Bythyb, is there really going to be a live action "Last Unicorn?!" I loved that cartoon when I was little! Saw it in the theater when it came out.
Apparently, Mel Gibson is trying to get Farenheit 451 in the works. I haven't seen the older version yet, but I think with his directing/producing abilities, it could be pretty good. Not sure if he's acting in it.
Can't wait for anything Harry potter!

I knew I'd missed one! "The Green Mile" was great, but as you said, around 3 hours long. But it was also a shorter novel, more on the lines of the ones I mentioned.
I've been hearing about the Mel Gibson "Farenheit 451" for a while now. I loved the book and I'm sure he would do a great job with it. Even though his opinions suck, he is a good director/producer. Even actor at times.

American Dad is back and is pretty good this year. I thought it was the weakest of the three cartoons on Fox last year but this year's been much better.
And what is .hack/roots? I know about the G.U. game but I didn't know a new anime was coming. I just hope it's better than Legend of the Twilight. I loved Sign but Legend of the Twilight didn't feel as emotional. It was good but not great.

The Power of the Dark Crystal, I'd love for it to be wonderful, but I have a horrible feeling it's just going to be a travesty when compared to the original. I love the original so much though, that I can't help but feel anticipation about this sequel.

Here's some info straight from the publisher. The artwork looks pretty promising, and King seems to be taking a very active hand in the project,which is a good sign. (or maybe not, considering Sleepwalkers...)

If we're including films that are in various stages of development hell, I have to mention the film adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's book, Good Omens. Terry Gilliam (Time Bandits, Baron Munchausen) has been trying on and off for the past decade or so to drum up interest in making it. However, after reading some pretty negative reviews for his Tideland I expect that battle may now be lost.

The point is that THEY'RE MORE THAN MEETS THE ****ING EYE, YOU PHILLISTINE!!!
But seriously... the original cartoon had a certain fun "feel" to it, and a backstory which inspired a mythos held almost reverently by the fan base. I wasn't upset when I heard Bay was making updates and changes; to do a lock-step rehash of the cartoon would be silly, and I'm open to new interpretations.
But he didn't just revise... he completely threw all the elements of the established mythos out the damned window! Other than the voice of Peter Cullen, there's nothing left of the Transformers I knew. It's more like "Big Scary Robots Things: A Michael Bay production." It would be kind of like remaking Star Trek, setting it on a desert island, and casting it with the case of The OC.

I have to second Macheath's mention of the Good Omens movie. Gilliam may be seeing a bit of a slump, but Gaiman's got three movies in the works at least (Stardust, Coraline, and his screenplay for Beowulf) so he's definitely going to be getting more attention of these movies do well. I've also got my fingers crossed for American Gods, though as far as I know that's never even really been professionally considered, and I'm not sure how well it would make the transition.
As far as things that are a bit more definite, I can't wait for the Prestige and the Fountain to come out this November. They both look incredible. 300 and Grindhouse also look like they'll be good, but that's not until next year.
I don't really have any video games in particular I'm looking forward to, but I'm definitely planning on picking up the Wii as soon as possible.
I wasn't aware of Pynchon's new novel, but thanks to I'mNotDedalus's mention its now on my list. Loved V., sadly haven't read anything else by him yet.

I also am looking forward to the last Harry Potter, but I'll also be sad because I'm pretty sure that at least one of the characters I really like is going to die. I did hear rumors that it would be released sometime in the summer of 2007, though not 07/07. I heard it would be released on July 31 (Harry's birthday).
Does anyone know the latest on progress towards A Confederacy of Dunces as a movie? It's one of those ideas that's been kicked around for years but never seems to come to fruition.I had heard that Will Ferrell was slated to play Ignatius, which I hope won't happen. Has the project been permanently shelved because of Hurricane Katrina?

I didn't know that they were trying for a movie of "Good Omens". That would be cool.
Right now I'm anticipating my copy of "1001 Nights of Snowfall" and getting rather irritated with Amazon.com as the book was released on the 18th and they still haven't got it in to ship!

If you want to talk development hell, let's talk Superman Returns (previously any number of titles.) A new Superman movie took around 20 years, IIRC, to get off the ground. There's hope for anything based on that, even Duke Nukem Forever.
