If this has been mentioned I must have missed it. Is everyone aware of the graphic serial novel that's happening on the Heroes website? The day after each episode airs they put up the newest installment which is about 8 pages long and takes place between episodes. They're not crucial to following the show, but they may fill in a few little gaps or give more food for thought.

Jenn, I didn't know about those. Just checked them out. They're interesting, but you're right they're definitely not crucial to following the show. The most insight was probably in this last comic about DL. (SPOILER) He thinks (not says) that he's innocent, so he's been set up somehow, which probably means he'll be a hero. I'm guessing that ikiN framed him, which would explain how she knew about that spot where his crew was buried.

Looks like Heroes is still getting great ratings after five weeks (its easy to get them for a premiere, but its actually been growing an audience since the premiere). Thats good news, since it means they'll almost have to order a couple more seasons and the series isn't at risk of leaving us off on some never resolved cliffhanger.

How much fun was it watching Nathan take off and land? With a jet-stream in there to boot too!

I am interested in what Horn-Rim (Claire's father) and Memory-Erasing Man are up to. So far it looks like they are just collecting, studying, and releasing. I am still in the Not Mr. Evil camp, especially with his insistence to Claire that she needs to start trusting him. Her confession was not the one he wanted. If he is going around collecting info on heroes just to kill them, I really doubt he would want to add his baby-girl to the list.

BTW, what the heck was that on the cheerleader in Peter's painting? A dumbbell? A giant gray button? I don't think "Save the Cheerleader" means save her from dying as Peter and Issac seem to think and keep painting, but more of a save the cheerleader from becoming eeeevvviiilllll (especially since we know she can't die!). Her revenge against the QB is a beginning step towards becoming a villian.

Three thoughts:
1) Three seconds of "wow! cool!" per episode is. Not. Enough.
2) What an astonishing coincidence that he lands outside the diner where Hiro has just been left alone.
3) Was I the only person who wondered how his pants stayed on, after he went supersonic? Or, as the ladies may wonder, why did his pants stay on?

Also, Mohinder turned into a real whiner once Nathan rebuffed him. At first he's like, I must complete this quest! Then, when he finally makes contact and fails to break through, he turns all, "Skepticism is the default position of the scientist." Who put a bug up his butt?

(Obviously, the bug-planting guy from episode #2.)

There really may be something to that. I found it interesting that when Horn-rim had Nathan cornered (just before he took flight), Nathan threatened to kill Horn-rim, who then responded "I'd really like to see that". Now, perhaps I'm reading too much into a throw away line, but it does hint at a sort-of "Strike me down and complete your journey to the Dark Side" kind of moment.

I think the realisation of his fathers death sank in. It wasn't until he had the urn of ashes that he seemed to change his thoughts.

Maybe that's what they intended. Still, it seems weird to have Mr. Skeptic still doing the New Age voiceover even after his attitude has changed.

Say, after the fit we threw about the "Holy sh--" discontinuity, nobody mentioned that they did the exact same thing with the next episode.

"Collision" ended this way:
Hiro: Peter Petrelli?
Peter: How is this happening?
Hiro: Sorry if I scared you. You look different without your scar.
Peter: I don't know you buddy.
Hiro: Not yet. My name is Hiro Nakamura. I'm from the future, and I have a message for you.

"Hiros" repeats it... mostly.
Hiro: Peter Petrelli?
Peter: What? Are you doing this?
Hiro: You look different without your scar.
Peter: I don't know you.
Hiro: Not yet. My name is Hiro Nakamura. I'm from the future, and I have a message from you.

Hiro then continues his dialogue as he moves toward Peter, where there was a longer pause at the end of the previous iteration.

With a premise involving time travel and such, are we supposed to interpret these changes as clues, or are they goofs?

I think they are slightly changing things as a delibrate homage to comic books - it's not the first time they've altered the end/beginning scene like that, and that's something that's quite common in comics.

Ha, so the people who thought that the pixie eden was working with scary cheerleader dad were right.

Still trying to figure out if they are trying to trick us about him. But I think I won't bother to speculate anything, because everyone else (EVERYWHERE!) is better at it than me.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Another cliffhanger. I don't think Niki is getting killed off that easy. If she had a heart attack it could drop her without necessarily being fatal.

ETA, maybe when she comes to, one of her personalities will lapse into some sort of coma from the trauma while the other takes over.

I was glad to see DL have the presence of mind to use his abilities offensively like that. Reaching through the locked door to open it was a nice touch too. Hopefully when he gets better control over he won't be so susceptible to getting physically beat up like that (I would think he could just phase through most attacks as long as he wasn't taken by surprise).

I believe that the voice overs come from the future. Like he's looking back on things. When I hear the voice overs I always picture a typical lecture room with him standing up front and a bunch of "super" students.

(repeating what I said before we reconvened here)

This is a madcrazy theory and I really doubt it's right, but I have to share it because if I am, I want to be able to brag that I totally called it.

What if Isaac is not only painting the future, but influencing it? I suspect that only half of NikiN is going to die, and maybe by painting over the symbol or by uncovering it later, Isaac unknowingly chose which half it would be.

Frankly I thought she was probably shagging Papa Suresh as well.

I'm not the only one who tunes out whenever Mohinder does one of his voiceovers, am I? He's almost as dull as Peter.

Ok, so Claire's "bio-parents" were actors (or co-workers) hired by her dad, right?? That seemed obvious to me, but the TWOP recapper didn't seem to pick up on it.

For people not reading the nbc.com comics, this week's installment has Niki's power definitely including super-strength, not just when she's scared. She rips the door off of a safe in the hiest....but if anyone was worried, she only killed the guys after they threatened her.

The TWoP recappers seem to be not picking up on a lot of stuff, mouse goddess. This is the third show where I've continued watching but dropped the recaps because I no longer have the patience to wade through the inaccuracy and bitching to find the good snark. I thought the bioparents being fake was pretty obvious, but I have to admit I don't know if I'd say that if my viewing partner hadn't predicted it before they even stepped on the screen. Said VP also suggests -- and I think he may have something here -- that Horn Rimmed Glasses is Claire's father, but that she was "grown in a tube somewhere."

I need to stand up for Peter here. Everybody seems to like ragging on him, but I like him.

He actually kind of reminds me of me. He doesn't really cause much trouble, doesn't do anything immoral, likes helping people...So I guess he's a real white-bread, homegrown "boy scout" type, but then, so am I [Smile] So I'm all on board with Peter.

I missed the first couple episodes, but some friends have (mostly) caught me up and I'm desperately enjoying things. I'm curious if the changing photo of Chandra Suresh is a continuity glitch or intentional evidence that somehow the timeline has been altered. I'm gonna do a quick recap of characters, let me know if there's important things I didn't catch on to.
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
*Claire - Invulnerable cheerleader, presumably of "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" fame. Adopted by...
Horn-Rim - Does this character have a name yet? IMDB just lists him as Horned Rim Glasses, we could call him Mr. Bennet, I suppose. He's some sort of possibly evil secret agent, who is apparently researching the super-powered people with help from...
*Intimidating Black Man - another nameless character, he may or may not have power-suppression abilities, he can erase people's memories. I'm guessing he's more of a telepath, which is why...
*Matt Parkman - telepathic cop, couldn't read his mind. So far not a lot going on with this character, except that his power seems to be escalating beyond his control.
*Isaac - can paint the future but (he thinks) only when he's high on heroin. I suspect/hope that he'll figure out he doesn't need the drugs after seeing...
*Peter Petrelli - copycat, pull off his stunt while neither of them were on anything. Peter can copy the abilities of others, including
*Nathan Petrelli - his high-flying politician brother. Who was recently seduced by...
*Niki Sanders - she has an alter ego who has super-strength and low morals, and a son...
Micah Sanders - who is apparently a super-genius and has just been taken away by his father...
*D.L. Hawkins - who, seriously, has a terrible name, DL? Ugh. Anyway, DL is Kitty Pryde, but not female...or Jewish...or accompanied by a little purple dragon. So, really, he's nothing like Kitty Pryde, but he can pass through solid objects.
*Hiro - can stop time and travel through it.
Ando - Hiro's English-speaking friend.
Mohinder Suresh - Son of the man who, literally, wrote the book on super-powers.
Eden - Worked with Chandra Suresh, and Mohinder, and Horn Rim. Girl gets around.
*Sylar - Zombie who might possibly have the powers of ALL the heroes.

I've marked with a * the people who definitely, for sure, have super-powers.

We won't know until we see a tiebreaker. Was the turban guy filmed first, and then Erik Avary was cast in the role, included in the previous episode without fixing the other? Or did Avary pose for the first photo, then they changed their minds? Given that we haven't seen a body (and that there's all kinds of time travel going on), we're likely to see Papa Suresh in the flesh.

Assuming, of course, this show gets off its butt and starts letting things happen!

Interesting things I have thought about:

Why are all the powers manifesting now? I mean, some are adults, some are children.

Claire's questions at the end of the show - she was brought to the hospital with a cough. Miss Indestructible was sick. Once. Result of an experiment?

DL and Niki's boy is the biological result of two "powers". Watch this space.

Re: above. Something IS drawing them together. The odds of two people yet to develop powers meeting and marrying is... astronomical.

Matt's "overload" problem has to be overcome. I suspect something drastic or tragic.

Peter's absorption power. What will he be able to do when they are all together in a group?

No Sylar reference for several episodes. The painting, however, hinted that Claire was next on the brain-removal list.

Agh. I am probably going to re-watch them all so far, just to make my mind work on it more.

Thanks NBC.

It's obvious, since the Tricksie Pixie delivered the urn, that Papa Suresh being dead is all a ruse.

And even if he did identify a body in the morgue, how can we be sure it wasn't a shapeshifter?? (Which has traditionally been one of the easiest, cheapest superpowers to show on TV.)

So far - Peter has met Isaac, and talked to Hiro (and future Hiro). Nathan has met Hiro and... Niki.... Hiro has met DL and Micah. Ando has met Niki. It's happening.

We all meet Ted, "Mr. Nuclear".

Referenced. Barely.

OK. It looks like we are developing "good" people, "Heroes", and "villains" are starting to pop out. Niki's alter ego has the power, and it ain't good. Sylar is a known baddie.

Jury is still out on HRG and MWG. And did Mohinder really leave? Wonder how they'll bring him back into the scene.

The previews show some serious hints about what is going on...

So I'm guessing the nuclear dude is going to be heading to New York in a few weeks, in time for the explosion.

What the heck was up with the previews from last week for this weeks episode? Weren't they talking about how the heroes powers become publicly exposed? That didn't happen.

Kev, my original post was from the recaplet, not the recap...which had this to say.

"Bennet sets up a meet-and-greet between Claire and her bio-parents. She tries to get them to admit that they have superpowers, but all she gets from them are family histories of regular, non-super diseases. However, Mrs. Bennet tells Claire, after they've left, that when she was a baby, the Bennets tried to track down Claire's bio-parents, without success..."

So based on that, I didn't think that she'd caught it.

Excellent guess. Though I must point out that the explosion happens (happened) on November 8th -- which is tomorrow.

And Hiro & Ando are still barely out of Vegas! They were stuck there for four of this series' seven episodes.

Excellent guess. Though I must point out that the explosion happens (happened) on November 8th -- which is tomorrow.

Its not like its real time. Each episode doesn't take a week.

I'm so wishing I wore tank tops right now. I'd be henna-ing the hell out of my shoulder just to see if anyone got it.

Also, just so this post has some actual content, I'm guessing that "Jessica" was Niki's twin who died either in utero or shortly after birth.

Is it just me, or is the FBI agent the worst cop in history? First she arrested Matt for no reason. Then, today, she bursts into Teddie Meltdown's house with Matt in tow, and no warrant. You don't get to invade people's houses without a warrant! In real life, everything she found in there would be completely inadmissible.

Then she and Matt head into Ted's bedroom, which is full of radiation. Because she was too stupid to take out her geiger counter before she had him open the door.

Still, it's a pretty cruel move to tease a Big Event happening on a particular date just a few weeks into the future. Maybe that date will come during this month's sweeps. But it would be silly to keep me in suspense until next May about an event that takes place in November in show-time. (Yes, I keep thinking of 24's "the day of the California primary" in season 1 -- but that was their gimmick.)

I'm starting to think there might be an actual premise for the show (still waiting!!), but that the producers thought they could get away with laying 13 or 20 episodes of backstory before getting there. I've got to say, wrong move.

They've got until the end of November sweeps to deliver some kind of payoff, something to justify the seven episodes (and counting) of nothing but foreshadowing.
