The bitchiness of that article is stunning.

She deserves it, anglrdr. Considering her track record with pets, she'll probably carry the baby around in her purse and then give it to her mom to take care of when it gets too big. Then she'll have another one!
At least it should be an easy labor for her.

It seems that she's too immature to be a mom right now and should wait. Maybe she'll grow up in a few years. Not wanting to be an old mom is a bad excuse to rush parenthood.

Well, she says "I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after...". and by "look after" she relaly must mean "have siezed by the state because I'm too much of an idiot to realize the laws regarding exotic animals."
What a great mom--taking up animals that, when caught by the wildlife department, will likely be terminated.

... So on the basis of that "probably", she can be pre-emptively declared the Worst Mother In The World before she's even pregnant? I get the impression from the tone of the paragraph that they can't wait to have somebody apart from Britney to slag off, so I doubt they'll actually bother with any facts before Britney gets demoted. (Or promoted?)

Do you have any cites that this happened? Other than Page 6, of course.
And, really, at what point do our mistakes (if this is something that actually happened) make it allowable for others to pre-emptively accuse us of being the worst parent ever?
I do not understand why people spend so much effort hating anybody, but to hate someone you have never met before seems to be the ultimate in petty spite.

This is something that's been bothering me lately. I don't think I'd enjoy spending time the the misses Hilton or Spears or Reid or Lohan. I might be surprised, but I seriously doubt it. That said, I don't understand the need to insult and attack that I see so often. I'm not particularly talking about any previous posts in this thread, but in general. Why do people get so angry or feel personally affronted by these folks? Sure, I think driving away from the scene of an accident or with a baby on your lap or keeping a dog in a purse is irresponsible behavior. But I don't understand the personal attacks.

IME a lot of purse dogs like being purse dogs. If mine wasn't such a lardo she would be a purse dog. She wants to go everywhere I go, and constantly be with me. But not walk.

I noticed in the article it said she is twenty-five and that she wants to have a baby within the next five years. I don't think that is as much trying to follow some kind of trend as much as it is a reasonable line of thought. I mean if you want to have kids eventually I think that there is nothing wrong with wanting to start by age 30.

I actually think that Paris Hilton could be a good mom because she has spent the last few years looking for a really stimulating project to fill her life with meaning. From what I hear that's what kids are.

I think this is an *attempt* at "raunchy" humor, i.e. she's had so much sex she's all streched out. It might be a reference to the "Stupid Spoiled Whore" episode of South Park.

I thought it was a reference to the jobs she attempts on "The Simple Life". I have never seen the show but from what I've heard, Paris presents herself as someone who does not like to do hard labor.

Well, she dresses in skimply clothes and we all know that clothing choices are directly related to sexual activity. Also, she has had (one, two?) sex tapes released by other people. Combining these two, she must have had hundreds if not thousands of sexual partners.

That's why I said "seems". I'm not saying she's definitely like how she's portrayed in the media but, from everything I've heard, is really into partying and stuff, which she may grow out of. Sorry if I sounded presumptous.

I assumed the easy labour comment was due to the fact that many celbrity mothers opt to deliver their babies by elective C-section.

Why would they do that? Then they would get less money for a nude scene in the future, and it is harder to get your abs back after a C-Section.

I'm a bit afraid the number of celebrity births lately may have made babies the new purse dog. Just last year Paris passed Tinkerbell off to her mother in favor of a new, smaller purse dog. If she wants us (as if she really cares what we think) to look at her level of care for her pets as an indication of what kind of mother she'd be, she'd be hard pressed to convince me her children won't be raised by nannies. No hit on nannies, but that's probably not the sort of mother she wants us to believe she would be. Tinkerbell may be better off with Mrs. Hilton.

She has no need to convince anyone. But you cannot present one image of yourself constantly and then expect that image not to stick. She presents herself, whether she means to or not, as irresponsible and selfish. Not great traits in a mother.

I didn't say she did. Rather I said that I doubted she really cared what we (including me) think and that she would be hard pressed to convince me [if she wanted to]. Does she need to? Not at all.
My point was that her comments about how she cares for her pets may not lead some readers to the conclusion she seems to be hoping for, at least based on the information that has been publicized.

We've spent how many dozens of pages on an abortion thread where pro-choice people have been demanding that people should have a right to make reproductive choices free of outside interference. It seems to me that we either extend that right to all or none.
As for her irresponsibility, she does have a career, of sorts. And she did exercise, apparantly, some level of responsibility, in that she apparantly showed up when and where she was supposed to and didn't get fired from the gig.
Selfishness, on the other hand: she is 25, has an income, and no dependents. Doesn't selfish kinda go with the package?
Quite frankly, who isn't selfish before they become parents?

Ummm, is this directed at me? I hope not because I didn't address any of those topics.
In fact, I said that she would be hard pressed to convince me that her children wouldn't be raised by nannies which I went on to say isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I said nothing about selfishness, irresponsibility or even her right to make her own reproductive choices. In fact, I don't think I said any more than I think she'd be hard pressed to convince me she would be the kind of mother she seems to trying to say she would be in the interview. For that matter, I don't think anyone knows what my opinion is of Paris Hilton. I don't think I've said.
Or maybe you weren't directing this comment at me. If so, then never mind.

I think that was in response to my post Sara. Still, I stand by it. I don't really care what Paris does. But if she wants to come across as great mother material in the media, she has some work ahead of her.

I think this is one of the great drawbacks of being a celebrity- and to answer someone's earlier question of the animosity towards hilton, Lohan, Spears, etc.
I think all celebrities should realize that they are a public figure, always in the public eye. This means that people are always going to be taking pictures of you, talking trash about, and even talking nicely about you. For a celec, publicity is a good thing. They want people talking about them, so they get offered more deals.
While some of the paparazzi goes too far, and some of the comments do get a little too nasty, I really don't feel bad for the celebs. They need the publicity. And if someone like Paris Hilton portrays herself to the media as a scantily-clad, "loose" party girl, then that's how we're going to perceive her. She's the one who put the image in our heads.
I agree with MamaDuck- she has her work cut out for her if she wants the oublic to perceive her as a good mother.

Boy, you guys have some dirty minds! I took the comment of "At least it should be an easy labor for her" as she'll probably have a c-section, since that's what celebs seem to be doing, and also she'll probably get special treatment because she's rich and famous.
