This is a "Letter to the Editor" in our local (Fort Smith) paper that ran
today. I especially like the very last line. What a guy!!!!

DEMOCRATS ARE ARM OF SATAN

I have been on this earth for about 60 years and have never seen
anything like what I have been seeing in today's society for the past two
years.

First we have a known communist from the New England states by the last
name of Sanders in the Senate. Then we have Jewish senators, namely
Feingold, Levin, Feinstein, Boxer, and Schumer, who are anti- Israel. Then
we have gay representatives in both partties elected year after year.

Then we have two known Muslims who have been elected to the House of
Representatives, of whom one wants to be sworn into office on the Koran as
opposed to the Holy Bible. Then there is the issue of gays. They were
called something else when I was a kid. The Apostle Paul wrote in the
first chapter of the Book of Acts that God the Father would change these
people into reprobates. I wonder why all Democratic politicians support
gay rights?

What has happened to our Christian values in this country, and
secondly, what has happened to the brain-dead people who have voted for
these people? I think the words "Brain Dead" pretty much sum it up for
those who voted for Democrats.

Yes, the Democrats have won the House and Senate. That is what people
wanted. Get ready for higher taxes, more federally supported abortions,
more elected Muslims, more rights taked away from Christians, more
government interference and more rights given to gays and lesbians.

I am sure that I will get some flack about talking down the Democrats.
I could really care less what a Democrat thinks, because that party is the
right arm of Satan.

Lord, help us all, including the anti-God elected Democrats.

Have a nice day.

He sounds like a modern day Petroleum V. Nasby.

I'm trying to work out what rights he doesn't want taken from Christians and given to gays and lesbians. The right to enjoy gay love, perhaps? I'm not sure he has thought this through.

I don't know whether the rights he fears will be taked away from Christians are the same rights he fears will be given too gays and lesbians.

I wonder, however, why a "known communist" Senator, who is, as far as I know, independent, and "gay representatives in both partties" are proof that the Democratic Party is the right arm of Satan, but not the Republican Party - or are they the left arm?

I wonder, too, why having two muslims (and several gay rights supporters as well as a known communist) elected to the Senate will lead to "more elected Muslims" in the future. Isn't the election done by the people, not the Senators? And if he had a chance, why would a communist (and probably atheist) Senator vote for a muslim (apart from maybe said muslim being a good candidate regardless of religion)?

So, to sum up my musings: WTF?

Soon to be ex-Arizona US Rep. Jim Kolbe is gay.

So was a highly conservative Wisconsin US Rep. whose name I can never remember.

Both are Republicans.

Was it Gunderson? I always think Sensenbrenner first, then Gunderson, then decide it was someone else.

Probably because I was never in his district. And at least in Madison, the impression I got was that he was considered highly conservative. Of course to most Madisonians, he probably is/was!

Sensenbrenner is, regrettably, still in Congress. I've never heard any speculation about his sexuality, but he's definitely a conservative. Sensenbrenner's big distinction is that he's one of the richest members of Congress because he's the heir to the Kotex fortune...and his voting record is staunchly anti-feminist. Way to treat the folks who made you a millionaire, huh?

Huhn. Our local paper (not too far from Fort Smith, relatively speaking) has letters to the editor all the time that are at least that ignorant.

I wonder what they would call the faith of someone who ignores Christ's urging to "love thy neighbor" and is filled with hatered toward his fellow man?

I just love the op/ed page.

We recently had one warning Christians not to have Christmas trees (or even celebrate or use the word Christmas for that matter) on the basis of Jeremiah 10:

quote:
1 Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel. 2 This is what the LORD says:
"Do not learn the ways of the nations
or be terrified by signs in the sky,
though the nations are terrified by them.

3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.

That was tame, by comparison though by the all-time record-holder of loony op-eds a couple of months ago. I wish I would have kept a copy. Some how the guy "proved" that West Virginia is an evil, corrupt state under the influence of Satan and his demons. He started with the name of his town and somehow tied it up with similar-sounding, but linguistically unrelated fictional demons and villains in the past. Then moved on out to the surrounding area, through various landmarks and geological features and ultimately to state mottoes and slogans. "Virginia" had something to do with Satan virgin sacrifice. "Wild, Wonderful West Virginia" alluded to hedonistic partying in the wilderness and "west" alluding to following the sun and giving in to Egyptian idolarty/religion. It just rambled on and on like that, which each paragraph concluding to have my "proof" that the state and its population are doomed to hell, yet written by one of its long-time residents.

I think this is a windup, and not by an actual pCm. The line:
"The Apostle Paul wrote in the
first chapter of the Book of Acts that God the Father would change these
people into reprobates."

First of all, Paul did not write Acts. Second, homosexuality has nothing to do with the first chapter of Acts (it is essentially a summary of the Gospel of Luke). A real fundie would know this.

I disagree. Christian fundamentalism is centered upon the literal interpretation of the Bible. I think most know off-hand real references to sex in the Bible- after all, this is what they base all their arguments on.

Misquoting so blatantly seems off to me.

I'd draw a line between a fundamentalist, who can often present at least a coherent argument for the sometimes odd opinions and a pCm - pseudo-Christian moron. This guy strikes me as the latter, someone who is just barking off what they've been told to say, and pulling random bible quotes of their...bible.

He/She probably meant to reference Romans 1, rather than Acts 1. It's easy to mistake facts in a rant of this magnitude.

I like the last line, myself.

quote:
"Have a nice day."
It's so.. psychotic.

/hijack
Reminds me of a day I went on a ride-along with my police officer brother. He picked up a guy for attacking a girl in a park where she was swimming. Taking the initial report, we had found the victim to be a schoolmate of mine (Jr High). I don't know what kind of projection went on in his head, but my liberal, Episcopal, card-carrying ACLU member brother became someone I'd never met before. I'd always been impressed at his quiet, respectful way of dealing with some of the nastiest people in my sphere of experience, ending every encounter with "Have a nice day", -if appropriate, of course.

This "dirtbag" was treated to some mighty colorful language on the way down to the justice center, complete with what seemed to me to be explicit threats, just barely on this side of legal. Alarmed, I touched his sleeve and said his name, and he stopped screaming. We pulled up at intake, he got the guy out of the back seat, pushed him against the car, got right in his face and gritted out:

"Have a nice day".

Thanks for your time [Smile] /end hijack
