My friend was talking to me about this the other day, so I was curious to everyone's opinion.

Supposedly, when a woman goes on birth control, it changes the pheromones her body gives off, which in turn causes her partner to subconsiously notice and lose attraction to her (since he was attracted by her original pheromones).

Not to say that every woman who goes on birth control suddenly causes her partner to lose interest in her, because I'm sure many couples have obviously stayed together through it, but is there any truth to the idea that the pheromones change and could possibly cause something like that to happen?

A study was done on it, or so I was told, but I haven't been able to find research.

You probably haven't been able to find any research because there are few or no peer-reviewed published studies that demonstrate that humans make and respond to pheromones (although they are suspected to exist).

I remember hearing this, I believe in one of my psych classes in university. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the materials to cite anymore.

"Maybe."

Personal anecdote to follow
...
I went on Depo-provera shortly after DH and I became sexually active. I went off it late last year and have switched to Mirena, which has much less hormonal effect. DH has since commented that my personal scent when aroused has changed. He says it is more "womanly." Our sex life hasn't had any changes with or without the depo.

My opinion is that this would (obviously) only be true of hormonal birth control, and how true it is would vary based on what specific birth control method was used.
