As bottled water is now a multi billion pound/dollar industry will this change anybody's drinking habits?

No. Not mine. Considering that there is very little regulation over bottled water, and that Water Quality Testing has shown several brands to be nothing more than tap water...I came to the decision long ago to never buy bottled water.

I only have bottled water around for convenience... if I'm thirsty but don't want my 2-year old to knock over my glass of water, I crack out a bottle of water.
Otherwise, I've always heard: "Unless your tap water looks, smells or tastes funky, it's fine to drink."

I believe that this is why Coca-Cola withdrew their brand; Dasani from the shelves as it was nothing but purified tap water, this and the fact that nobody bought the stuff in the first place.
They 'aint thick at the Coke factory y'know.

Little anecdote. When I was in Afghanistan a couple of years ago, we were told not to drink the tap water (go figure). There were thousands of bottles of water stacked up around the entire camp, and we could grab one at any time. There were three brands that were available, whose names escape me at the moment.
One of the brands got a bit of an unnecessary reputation. It put its chemical analysis on the side of the bottle and people were reading this. No problem really. Then someone read the Ph level of 7 on the bottle. He freaked. His pool at home needed a Ph level of 5 and he figured that if 5 was that bad, 7 had to be worse.
He spread the rumour like wild fire. One time I caught him dumping about 50 bottles of this stuff onto the ground (1.5 litre each). The water had to be flown in from Europe, so it was precious. I snapped him into reality and he rattled off his spiel. It was then that I used my ancient high school chemistry to enlighten him that Ph of 7 is actually chemically neutral. He did not believe me. It took him a discussion with the water testing technician assigned to our camp to clear that one up.
Although, I still feel that he thought that it was a conspiracy.

My wife insisted on getting a unit that distilled city water. I just read something that said that distilled water will cause your body to leach out minerals, etc.
I cannot cite it but will look it up if anyone questions what I just typed.

The water here is AWFUL, so I'm happy to buy even the purified tap water kind (if it's all a place has).
This will not change my mind about my bottled spring water, and my fizzy water comes in a glass bottle anyway.

Odd . . . It's still available here(or at least in Iowa, anyways)?

I think Dasani is pretty good water. Of course, with the way our tap water is over here, almost anything is better.

"Coca-Cola has shelved plans to put its Dasani bottled water back on the UK market and plans to launch it in France and Germany have also been postponed. A statement from the company said - "Following the voluntary withdrawal in Great Britain of Dasani due to a quality issue, it has decided not to re-introduce Dasani into Great Britain at this time.""

The article doesn't tell me anything about antimony and why I should think it bad that it's in my drinking water.
And what is ppt anyway? Parts per trillion? A few hundred parts per trillion ... count me thus far unimpressed.
Besides, let's take a homeopathic view of this. The ground water with only 2 ppt antimony is more of a problem, since the less you have of something, the more potent it is. ;P
