Scientists at the Oregon National Primate Research Center at Oregon Health & Science University believe they have helped dispel the myth that late-night eating causes weight gain.

Well my FIL is proof of that! He eats like, twenty minutes before he goes to bed. He's actually lost weight over the last two to three years!

I consume roughly 80% of my daily calories between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. (The other 20% are mostly consumed after 2 a.m.) My body fat percentage has always fallen right on the cusp of "lean" and "ideal" on the body fat graph.
Maybe I'm on to something.
