So remember, people: if there's an earthquake, flood or disease outbreak in the future, anywhere, at any time, you heard it here first.

Great, like the world needs another idol to worship.

That's what I keep trying to tell Fox . . . "Enough with this singing crap! Get rid of it!" They just keep on blathering about how there's a whole bunch of people who like "American Idol" and so on . . . No, there isn't! Stop the madness!
Oh . . . That's not what you meant, was it?

I was watching this on the news the other day at work (between.. Uh.. Working) and it was amazing, on the program I watched anyways, how many actual religious people (priests, etc) were very skeptical of it and basically said stuff like "Well I'm pretty sure its not real, but its nice to see so many people drawn back to the church" while other.. Well we'll call them "less educated" people were all gung-ho about it being a miracle.. Just amused me is all.

Mankind was designed with a God shaped hole, and a natural desire to worship. It just amazes me as to what we try cramming in that hole instead of the thing that fits more perfectly than anything else can. Him.
You said "less educated". Hmmm, me thinks it leans more toward gullible.

Um, Smiles...you might want to be just a little more careful about how you construct your metaphors...

It's the cramming things into the hole image that got my dirty mind working overtime....

Right, you should stick Him into your hole.

Good grief, how much further South could a post have gone?
I never saw that one coming. Sorry, my mind just doesnt work that way.
And yeah, I think CS Lewis did say something to that effect, I just found it rather obvious.

Don't sweat it too much Smiles. Snopesters just pounce quickly on anything they view as a cliche, which, sadly, the God-shaped hole illustration has become. Watch out for Pascal's Wager, too.

Also watch out for Lewis's classic "trichotomy", which completely ignores the entirely valid fourth option of "posthumously misquoted".
