That quote wouldn't surprise me at all if it were true. (Which is not the same as it being true.) A few years ago I would've thought attacking widows of a terrorist attack as beyond the pale. I would've thought supporters of a rich man's son who hid from duty in Vietnam accusing a highly decorated war vet with the shrapnel still in him of being a coward and liar beyond the pale. Yet they both happened, without Coulter's fans even flinching.

I also would've thought her denying well documented genocide would've gotten her pulled from her newspaper columns.
http://davidyeagley.blogspot.com/2006/10/lovefest-between-two-deniers-of.html
But it seems I was wrong about that. Not even a peep from anyone except some Native listservs.

The article that Coulter supposedly said that about soldier doesn't even mention her. It's also on a seemingly ancient server that takes forever to load. Could be why it was chosen.

Interesting also that Coulter has been conspicuously quiet about Tillman's actual views. (He was a big admirer of Noam Chomsky.)

So you have to be masochistic in order to find a lack of apologetic behaviour appealing?

Yeesh. You people.

Very well then...

Generally speaking, neither of those are appealing traits, except in some instances where they are entirely appropriate to a particular given situation, or in the case of some individuals who prefer, as consenting adults are certainly entitled, to be treated in this manner, or in the case where the acting individual is Ana Ng.

There. Did I cover everything?

Inflammatory is unappealing unless it's also funny or pretend. Borat and Stephen Colbert are appealing because they are joking. Lewis Black is appealing because he's funny. Ann Coulter is unappealing because she's dead serious and not humourous.

Of course, it helps that I am left wing and so are Colbert and Black (IRL), while Coulter is right wing. Although I have lots of right wing friends who don't want to make me punch their faces in and then use their bodies as fertilizer.

Rush and Coulter are one schtick ponies. They say outrageous idiotic things to get ratings and sell books. Unfortunately, weaker minded individuals actually take what they say literally.

Personally I don't find anything appealing about either one.

They both live in Palm Beach, don't they? I hope they don't get together and reproduce. The offspring would almost certainly be mutants.

I don't think anyone is questioning whether people like that really exist, or whether Coulter says what those people are thinking. Some people question whether Coulter herself actually believes the things she says, or is simply using those beliefs, and the people who hold them, to make a bunch of bucks.

She's David Duke in drag.

Except that Duke is prettier, definitely more feminine.

The only thing I find amusing about MAnn Coulter is when some people like Maher find her attractive. Even Kate Moss and Twiggy are yelling at her, "Eat something!"

Seriously, she's as racist and bigoted as they come. Did you not read the link?

She argues genocides never happened and makes racist jokes about these atrocities, "Time to pack up the tipi and hit the Trail of Tears!"

She's intensely bigoted towards Natives, Arabs, Muslims, gays, Blacks, and yes, Asians.

I'm sure we'd hear her joking, "Belsen! What a gas!" if it suited the Neo Con agenda to hate Jews. But right now Israel is important to Christian Zionists, so that's out of bounds.

You might find all of that delicious and unapologetic. I find it despicable and appalling. There's are good reasons I hold her and Farrakhan up to my classes as examples of precisely what kind of writing and speaking style to avoid, professional bigotry more concerned with spitting bile and than truth or reason.

And then to hide behind her claim that she gets hell for "being a good Christian"? That really offends me as a Catholic.

I just thank God she's too old to reproduce.

The list of the other unforgivable racist and bigoted sh*t she's pulled is long.

(Sorry for not just posting the link, but there were important quotes I wanted to draw people's attention to.)

http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=61
She...defended (unsuccessfully) a white professor at Florida A&M who was fired after telling his students to avoid "what some would call a 'nigger mentality'-the sort of thinking that can keep us all on the back of the bus forever."

"We should invade their (Middle East) countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity," she said in her most infamous quote after 9/11.

"In the past twenty years, one-hundred percent of terrorist attacks against this country have been by Muslim extremists," she said. "Naturally, the Democrats won't let us look for Muslim extremists. When there is a one-hundred percent chance that the next terrorist attack will be made by a Muslim extremist, it's no longer a profile, it's a description of the suspect."

(Actually, most terrorist attacks have been from whites, allegedly Christians.)

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh," she told the New York Observer, "is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

...She was later canned at the National Review for her anti-Muslim attacks.

...she snapped at a disabled Vietnam vet she was debating on a program, saying "people like you caused us to lose that war."

There was also her appearance in April, 2001 at Cornell University where she defended the Confederate flag....

"Slavery, as Joe Sobran has remarked, is the only African institution America has ever adopted," she wrote...

Once, during an episode of Politically Incorrect, Coulter even said that the Emancipation Proclamation is among laws she felt should be repealed....

In an April 2004 speech for one of her primary employers, Young America's Foundation, Ann justifies racial profiling and discrimination on airlines against people of South Asian (India, Bangledesh, ...) and South East Asian (Cambodia, Thailand,...) descent, as well as against Muslims."

Ann Coulter is a classic troll if ever I saw one and I wish everyone would stop putting her on talk shows. Trolls need a place where they can fester and die quietly, away from any people who can play into their stupid games.

I bought and read two of Ann's book, SLANDER, and HOW TO TALK TO A LIBERAL--IF YOU MUST, and I recall that Confederate battle flag comment, and I didn't like it at all!

I've decided not to buy or read her newest book, GODLESS, because in it she denounces evolution and supports creationism. Or least she supports intelligent design. She spouts all of the old creationist arguments against evolution, including the ones that have long been debunked.

The literal reading of Genesis that creationists embrace is nonsense. For example, if the human race began with just one man and one woman then that would mean that we homo sapiens were spawned from brother-sister incest! And the Old Testament law--the Torah--condemns incest, and its penalty was DEATH! Now why would God the Creator will that the human race be spawned through incest and then forbid it later? The Book of Jubilees--a Jewish apocraphal book--explains the incestuous matings of the children of Adam and Eve.
