A mayoral candidate of New Orleans used a photoshopped picture of the French Quarter at Disneyland rather than the real French Quarter in New Orleans.

Disney's response:

http://www.wonkette.com/politics/kimberly-williamson-butler/

Kimberly Williamson Butler is running for mayor of New Orleans, but
you wouldn't know it by looking at her web site.

Butler has been superimposed over an idyllic image of the French
Quarter on her stump site. The image, however, seems a bit too idyllic
- what with the perfectly clean streets, and tourists outfitted with
fanny-packs. And, in fact, Butler isn't in New Orleans at all. She's
pictured in what appears to be Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

I can just imagine a trend starting:
New York Mayoral candidate photoshopped into a picture of the New York New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. (Or Jacques Chirac standing in front of Paris Las Vegas Casino)

Gubernatorial candidate for South Dakota standing in front of a replica of Mt. Rushmore at a mini-golf course in South Amboy, New Jersey.

Milwaukee Alderman candidate pictured in front of the "Happy Days" exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Good lord, I wonder if she had any say in the choice of that image, or if it was just an unfortunate blunder on the part of some inept web designer searching for "french quarter" stock photos? Either way, it's pretty awful and funny, I don't know whether to laugh or be shocked. How about both? [lol] [Eek!]

Well, according to the site above, somebody took the time to 'shop out a Disney trashcan that was in the original pic. That implies knowledge on somebody's part, although not necessarily hers. At any rate, she stands to become something of a laughingstock, one would think.

Unfortunatly the sanitized Disney like version of New Orleans is very likely the futur of that city.

Hmmm... good point Wonko, although it appears that the can was Photoshopped out of the banner due to the bad press, so there is still a chance it could have been a mistake, due to the fact that the can was left in originally. Did the can have a Disney logo on it or something which identified it as being in Disneyland? I was unable to tell from the screen grabs. No matter the circumstances, it's a very unfortunate decision on the part of whoever had the final say in choosing the banner image, and I agree, she definitely is going to suffer some severe image damage from this. I think her chances of being the winning candidate are slim to nonexistant now. Ahhh the power of images.

Oh please god no. No Disney-fied version of New Orleans. Please, please no. It would have been better to die completely than to come back as a parody of herself.

I dunno. Maybe the real New Orleans version of Club 33 won't have such a long waiting list to get into it.
