I bought some cute tights from Target, and really want to wear them with my denim mini skirt. But the tights don't have a tag in them, so I don't know which was is the front. It has two seams on one side and one on the other. I was thinking that the one seam is the back. Am I right?
Along the same lines...
I don't have any shoes that would look good with the skirt and tights. I was thinking Uggs (I'm starting to think they're so ugly they're cute, and besides, they're supposed to be really warm), but if anyone has other ideas, I'm open to them.

It probably doesn't matter, unless it's a vertical seam running the length of the hosiery. If not, side usually doesn't matter.
In NYC, opaque tights with maryjanes or other general shoe-shoes (nothing too fussy) are popular. I wear my tights with furry boots, but just cause it's comfortable.

I may have found cute shoes that I could wear with the skirt and tights combo or with jeans. Maybe even as a "casual day" when I'm a teacher (in Fairfax County, every Friday is casual day, and the teachers can wear jeans)

Mickey, if you put the tights on and they seem to fit really awkwardly, take them off and put them on the other way.
I wear boots or Converse low tops with my mini and tights. Uggs are SO over here, but I would imagine they might make sense somewhere that it actually snows. The ladies of Go Fug Yourself would say that if it's cold enough for Uggs, it's too cold for a mini skirt. Take that for what you wish.

The sunscreen I use gives my face enough moisture without making it greasy. I only use the acne medicine at night. That way my face won't dry out.

Oohh, VersesBatman, what sunscreen do you use? Does it make you break out? I am very much in the market for a noncomodegenic sunscreen.

ThistleS, I agree with that mantra if you're going to wear the miniskirt WITHOUT tights. However, I feel that if I'm going to get something denim that looks cute on me, I want to wear it year round if it's applicable (to me, shorts are not "year round". I'll wear jeans until May or June if I can!) So I can totally justify to myself that if I want really cute tights, and I have a cute miniskirt, I could wear the miniskirt in the winter.
And it's not like I want the boots. I like the clogs I linked to much more.

Eh, I wear things the GFY girls hate all the time (such as leggings), I was just pointing out what fashion mavens have to say about such things.

They're "fashion mavens"? I'd hate to think what they say about the fashions everyone else is saying is so in (LIKE the mini skirt and tights thing)

If you want to know what they think about pretty much anything you might as well read the blog. They are fashion mavens, but that doesn't mean they approve of every little trend that comes along. They're more into good design and good taste. They only really talk about celebrity fashion mistakes though. It's quite funny, I highly recommend it if you're into schadenfreude at all.

Ladies, I have tried Victoria's Secret So Sexy hair products.
I am HOOKED!
I love this line. OMG, it smells so good, and leaves my hair all soft, and shiny, and with lots of body. And I got three products for $21, shopping the sale.
Even without the sale, it's not as expensive as the salon products that haven't done as well with my hair.
Why did I not know about this sooner? Why, oh why?

Coppertone Water Babies sunscreen spray. It doesn't make me break out and it feels light on my skin.

I think I said it before, but hair-wise, the new Herbal Essences stuff is great. I use the pin straight conditioner and "drama clean" shampoo and it cuts down on frizzies *a lot*. My best friend has super curly thick hair and the pin straight tames it.
I'd like to try the VS one, though.

Ana, I have noticed that my mineral powder foundation keeps my skin from breaking out. For some reason I have this feeling that it's not really blocking the sun though.
VersesBatman, thanks for the recommendation.

My hair is finally long enough to do something interesting with (it reaches a couple of inches past my shoulders), so I bought some of those cool chinese-style hair sticks to put my hair up with. The flippin' things don't stay in! Should I twist my hair some more? Use hairspray? Mousse?
They are really cute and I want to use them, but I can't spend all day fiddling with my hair.

Thordis, use a texturizer. This could be anything from hair wax to baby powder. Anything to give your hair a little more grip.
Barring that, secure your hair with bobby pins or a hair rubber band and then use the sticks strictly as decoration.

I gather all my hair into a pony, then twist until it starts to curl back on itself. Then I jam the stick in horizontally. Thing is, I have a LOT of hair. I might try doing it when my hair is not perfectly clean. I've got some fibre wax left over from when I had a pixie cut-would that do as a texturiser? I'm not used to having long hair!

I think dirty hair or fibre wax would work. I have thick, straight hair too and it's hard to get it to stay with just sticks when it's clean.
Another thing you might try is wrapping the hair around the stick, flipping the stick over, and jamming it through vertically from the top. It's hard for me to describe this procedure as I learned it by touch on my own hair. I do it with a pen.

I generally twist my hair up as tightly as I can before putting them in. I sytill end up having to readjust, but I do it less frequently. I will also put my hair into a ponytail, braid it and then win it into a bun, but that may not work for you since my hair is currently butt length.

Try putting the sticks in your twisted hair while it is still wet or damp if you don't want to (or have the time) to add product. My hair is straighter than an arrow and I have a ton of it. No amount of product or "dirtying" will work to keep those hair accesories holding my hair up. Putting my hair up while still wet or damp does work and those things will hold my hair up all day long with no issues.
Of course, this also means that even though the outer layer dries, the majority of my hair will remain wet for the entire day...

I wear these with tights and skirts. I also wear these, in black.

One of my co-workers bought a bottle of Olay Body Quench body lotion, but it gave her a rash, so she gave it to me, and I swear, I am in love!
My skin has never felt so smooth without also feeling as if I have been rubbed in bacon (anybody else see the coyote hunting episode of "Breaking Bonaduce?"). And it smells so lovely. The only downside is there is glitter in it. It is very tiny glitter, practically unnoticable unless you look hard. But I am too old, IMO, for glitter.

Ahh the trend last winter when i was actually somewhere that had cold weather was shorts with stockings. It looked great unless they wore bum skimmers and fishnets, that just looked tacky.I was blessed to grow up in a town where if the cold lasted for longer than a week, we hibernated.

They're cute; unfortunately, Old Navy doesn't carry cute shoes in 5 or 5 1/2.
