I always get those backwards unless I really think hard about it.
I remember back when I had to memorize all the states back in 8th grade, the trick I used to differentiate NH from VT was that Vermont is shaped like a "V".
Don't ask me how I can still remember that after all these years...

Granted, I only counted the states I remember visiting, and I did not count the ones of which I've only seen the airport.

No point in doing a world map for me...the only place I've been outside of the U.S. is Germany. Add England if you count airports.

They have to color a map-using different colors- with all the states they've lived in, all the states they've visited and the ones they have just passed through. Seems kinda sad to me!
I agree that it is sad sometimes how many kids have never been out of their home state or more than an hour or two away. I had some friends growing up whose only trip out of state was to Six Flags over Texas, a 3 hour drive. The fact that I had actually been to Washington DC & California as a child was amazing to some of my classmates. My kids have traveled much more than I had at their age but they are still slackers compared to some of their classmates. OTOH, I have a few child relatives whose travel experiences are little more than a few weekend trips to a neighboring state or two. We're going to add 2 more states to their calendars this next summer & possibly (very remote possibility) a European country.

Totally grasped out of thin air. From the earliest days when nations first started forming until 1809 present day Finland, of which Åland is an autonomous part, was just the Eastern half of the Swedish realm. Between 1809 and 1917 Finland was a Grand Duchy within the Russian empire.
After Finland gained independence there were discussions wether Åland should remain Finnish or join with Sweden. Although there was a petition where 96% of the signees stated that they wanted to join Sweden it remained Finnish and the present population are quite happy with that.

I must admit I took the lliberty to include states wher I've just spent time at airports (five hours at O'Hare is boring!) or just passed through by train.

Looking at Don Enrico's map I noticed that not only has Finland lost Åland to Sweden. They have also annexed the islands off the Estonian coast, Hiiumaa and Saaremaa (or Dagö and Ösel to use their Swedish names, the population there were Swedísh speakers until most of them fled to Sweden after the Soviet takeover).

What's that "not in scale" state south of Hawaii, by the way? The 51st state?

I don't think I've added any new countries since last time we did this, even though I've been to a few new places in some of those countries.

This is everywhere I have been this year. In March, my boyfriend (Mike) and I went to Baltimore to pick up my new truck. (1968 Chevy C10) In April we took the motorcycle down to Charleston for the Heritage Motorcycle Rally. It was Mike's birthday, and Lynard Skynards was playing, so I got tickets for his gift. In May, we went to Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands National Park on the motorcycle. In June we went to Southern IL to Hog Rock River Rally. (Again, on the bike) In August I went to Connecticut for work and took my kids to Wisconsin for a vacation. In October, Mike and I took a trip to Tennessee with another couple (on bikes) as they were thinking of moving down there.
I have lots of pictures, if anyone is interested Posts: 159 | From: Indiana | Registered: Mar 2005
