Looks like we out grew the old one, and seeing how I've got some news, I'd like to start the new one.

We are looking for vibes, luck, wishes, anything you can spare for our new additions to our family. Saturday we had three blastocytes implanted and are praying that these take hold and grow, grow, grow!

Thank you 4Kitties! We need all the vibes we can get!

Yay Giselle, and wishing you all the best. Cramping related to pregnancy can be scary, so make sure you follow your doctor's advice. [Smile]

Vanilla... you have my best California-bound vibes that everything works this time around. (Vanilla beans... too funny, Aud!)

Zorro... I hope that's all it was with Frank and that the soy based formula continues to do the trick. Make sure you let your pediatrician know about the change and see if there are any vitamin supplements Frank might need... I only say this due to my complete and total ignorance about soy-based formula, but you want to make sure he's getting all the calcium and iron and all that fun stuff that he needs. [Smile]

Wanted to put this in its own post. I went for my annual pap last Tuesday, and the doc found that my vaginal tissues were VERY red. Like fire engine red. She did a swab and I was negative for bacterial vaginosis... which is good... but leaves me wondering just WTF is going on.

This all started after Saleh was born. Dunno how relevant, but my pubic hair was all brittle and little bits would keep breaking off when I wiped (this has pretty much cleared up by now). I also had this irritation which felt like I had some kind of sand or grit in my labia. It would be especially troublesome when I wiped after using the bathroom... but it was intermittent rather than persistent so at first I thought maybe I got a stitch there and that's why it hurt... then I was thinking probably irritation from this pubic hair breaking off and scraping against when I wiped after going to the bathroom... and then... well I dunno what I thought until the doc said it might be bacterial vaginosis.

But now that I'm negative for that, I haven't got the slightest clue what it could be. It's not a bladder infection (I don't think anyway) because I don't have any of the classic symptoms. Likewise, I doubt it's a yeast infection. But I get this on again/off again sensation of sand or some other irritant when I wipe or if I sit a certain way and I haven't the foggiest idea why.

I was just wondering if this sounded like anything you wonderful snopestresses have heard about. I dno't have any other kind of pain or burning or anything like that. Just every now and then this irritant type of sensation. Any ideas?

Thank you everyone!

PI, if it is just irritated, then hopefully it will go away once you figure it out. IME, I have had irritation from lint. TP lint to be exact. It is amazing how that stuff can get everywhere and in places you didn't know you had! Do you have the sand feeling after you bathe, or only after wiping? If only after wiping, it may be lint.

Hi all,

I'm trucking on into the 3rd trimester. So far I'm up about 20 pounds, and the little juice pouch is quite the mover. I had my Blood glucose test last Tuesday. Haven't heard anything back yet. I'm going to go every other week, starting next week.

My favorite parenting message board is this one. This single thread on snopes is the most informative and supportive to me. I have a couple of others I'll skim from time to time, but I never really get into them.

Vanilla -- vibes and all good thoughts are yours.

PI and Zorro -- soy based formula has all the iron and vitamins of the regular stuff. All three of mine had it at some point in their formula-drinking days and the doctor never felt a need to supplement. But it doesn't hurt to check, since all babies are different.

PI -- might you be allergic to something that's rubbed against your privates? Since the infection has been ruled out, you could ask your doctor if there are further tests that can be done or if you need to see an allergy specialist.

Thanks, vanilla and Jocko. As it happens, my doc called me back at 4 and said that another doc told her that up to 20% of cultures done for this type of thing can come back negative because it might be a new strain or something so that it isn't easily spotted under the microscope. (Not to mention the fact that she did the swab after doing the pap and pelvic so there was a lot of KY type stuff in there that could have coated the swab before it got a chance to collect what it needed. But she had done a litmus swab type thingie during the pap that originally concerned her, and that was definitely deep vaginal thingie, not just labia, so we're not talking about an irritant.) I learned something new... I like learning!

So she's prescribing me the antibiotics that I need anyway... (not pills so they're not systemic, they're vagina-specific creams), and she wants me to make sure to eat yogurt every day. Even tho I've never been specifically prone to vaginal infections before, I suppose things could have changed in my body chemistry that might make me more susceptible or something. There's also a pill you can take daily that does the same thing for you as yogurt, so if the yogurt thing doesn't work out, I can go to that.

So, I just thought I'd post that as an FYI in case someone else has a similar situation going on. I don't know if there is more specific testing that could be done in the event that this is one of those nasty strains that doesn't show well on the microscope, but I'll pick up my meds tomorrow and all will be well... I hope. [Smile]

Glad you got an answer, PI. Hope things clear up soon. You're probably right that this is related to the chemical changes in your body. I know there are all kinds of changes that can happen and stay with you after pregnancy and some that just stick around for the 9+ months. Seems like adding periodic yogurt (or that pill you mentioned) might not be a bad idea, just to be sure.

I've been having headaches and some weirdness with my eyes. It was bad enough last week I took Wednesday off. I made an appointment with the eye doctor for Saturday. Hubby had something to do so I took Little-Aud with me. I held her in the sling during the examination and she was really good. Towards the end the eye doc couldn't really find anything wrong and said something about it maybe just being hormones. I never thought I'd have to explain to the eye doctor that Little-Aud is adopted.

My windy point here for PI is that if something is not right don't let someone tell you it's "just hormones".

Blue Fuzzy Thing - I agree with Algea. This thread is one of the best parenting tools I have. We are blessed with a wide varity of parenting styles. I "interviewed" a bunch of other boards when I was on maternity leave and different types tend to clump together. For instance I was on one yahoo group where I couldn't get an answer about the rashes that didn't involve breastmilk. I was on another one for kids all born around the same time but it got really competitive. Sometimes I'll check out babycenter.com for the articles but I never got much from their boards.

vanilla, Miss Mouse reads over my shoulder (when I let her don't panic) and since she has what we call "planting magic" ( whenever she plants a seed or a plant it grows quite well)
I explained the proceedure (with more info than I will type here)like the planting of a seed (simple but she is 6) She told me to tell you she is sending some of her "planting magic" your way!

Heck it can't hurt right?
She did tell me I have to let her know if it works.

Well, it's official. Khaled loves his little brother.

Yesterday, I went to see Zorro and I had to make two trips to the car. I took out Khaled first. (In case there are those who think I'm horrible for taking one kid to the car and leaving the other alone in the house... yeah, it's not my favorite thing in the world to do either, but sometimes it's a necessary evil. I rationalize it by telling myself that the car is only about 20 feet away and I can see it at all times when inside the house.)

Anyhow, I closed the door and said, "Okay, Khaled, let's get in the car." And it was so adorable how Khaled wouldn't move and kept pointing to the door, as if to say, "Mom, aren't you forgetting someone?" I picked up Khaled and took him to the car and with every step he got more and more upset, to the point of screaming and tears streaming down his face and everything. I kept telling him, "Mommy's not forgetting the baby, but honey, mommy only has two hands so there's only so much mommy can do at once. I'm not forgetting the baby. I'm gonna go get him after you're all buckled up."

Screaming, screaming, screaming, and nothing to be done about it until I clicked Saleh into the base unit of his baby seat, and the tears turned off, as if like magic. Once Saleh was in the car, Khaled was happy again. "See, honey? I told you I wouldn't forget him. Mommy would never forget the baby."

And then... as we were leaving Zorro's place, I had Saleh in his baby seat and had to set him on the floor for a second, and when I said, "Come on, Khaled, let's go," he grabbed the handle of the baby seat, as if he were going to carry Saleh himself so mommy wouldn't forget him again. AWWWW!

[Big Grin] Khaled loves Saleh. [Smile]

Ok, today is my due date. I'm a little effaced and a little dilated, but other than that, the magic date has not exactly brought a magic day. *sigh*

In the meantime, my blood pressure has been going up and down. It appears to be incidental, but if I'm effaced tomorrow the Dr wants to induce me. Has anyone else experienced this?

When I was pregnant with Khaled, the doc had me in my 3rd trimester monitor my BP. The reason was because my BP was fluctuating too much. It was really high when I checked in, so they had me wait and checked 20 minutes after the checkup was done and it was normal. But the first nurse kept commenting how she wasn't used to the stethoscope she had and couldn't hear with it, so I think the "high" reading was due to the faulty stethoscope (or possibly borderline competent nurse).

PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) is nothing to sneeze at. If it gets bad enough so that doctors say you have toxemia or preeclampsia and your BP continues to rise or can't be lowered, it can start cutting off blood flow to the placenta (not good for baby) and, if it gets really bad, can start screwing around badly with your internal organs.

The cure for PIH is having the baby.

Okay, so now that the scary stuff is out of the way, just how has your BP been fluctuating? Are the high BPs really high or just higher than normal? A slight fluctuation is not much to worry about, but if you're starting to get consistently high, then it's better safe than sorry. I wonder, of course, what effect pitocin has on a person's BP. From all the stories I've heard, induction is NO fun... which leads me to believe it could be stressful and not make your BP happy. But then, induction isn't the same for everyone, and I guess some women can handle it better than others.

Generally speaking, being one day overdue seems like a crappy reason to induce labor. However, if your doc is that worried about your BP, then it's probably for the best.

Good luck, LPP!

Thanks PI. It went up and stayed up for 24 hours, and then after medication it went down and stayed steady enough I could stay off for a few days (120/80). But it went up again to 160/100. I'm back on medication and have no symptoms of preeclamsia, but it's still not a great situation.

I've heard some nightmare stories about induction, but I think it's only really bad if your cervix isn't ripe (???). My Dr doesn't want to induce unless mine is.

Still, no brave face for me this time. I've done petosin w/o pain killer, I'm not going there again. [Wink]

Has anyone talked about febrile seizures yet?

Dominic was diagnosed with double ear infections on Monday and was running a temp of 103. Baby Tylenol was bringing it down to about 101.7. I fed him red beans and rice for dinner (his favorite) then put him in the bath to clean him up. He was playing, splashing, and generally having a good time like normal when his hands turned purple and he started shaking violently. I snatched him out of the tub and started rubbing him down with the towel, then held him against my bare chest, wrapped a blanket around both of us and kept rubbing him. Then he layed still and drooled on my chest for about 45 minutes. So far this is probably the most terrifying moment of my time as a mom.

I looked it up today and I think it was a febrile seizure. Why didn't I know about these before?

PI, I got your PM- yay! [Wink] Glad everything, uh, came out okay. [Wink]

We're using this triple paste stuff on Frank's diaper rash, and it looks much better. I let him air out each time I change him, and extra long after a bath, too. He still does have it, and I have a suspicion that he'll have it as long as he's in diapers. My mother told me that my brother had rashes like that, so bad she had to use cloth diapers with him, which I am so not doing! He doesn't seem too bothered by it, which is the important part, I guess.

He's getting his shots next week on Tuesday. My mom said give him some Baby Tylenol before we go, and that should cut down on any reaction he might have.

The soy formula seems to be working out well. He's much calmer. I had one jug of the other kind of formula left, so I gave him some of that today, and he started getting all cranky again a few hours later, so I dumped the rest of it. It's a waste, but it's not worth the agita to me.

Here's another of my rare posts. I guess it must be the busy-ness of motherhood. I'm home at the moment because James has a cold (had a fever and cough yesterday, so out of daycare today). He's sleeping, so I can "socialize."

He's doing great at 8 months, crawling and pulling himself up on furniture and sturdy toys (like those little activity centers). He's eating Yo Baby yogurt, cheerios and other finger foods.

That baby yogurt is pretty dang good. The apple flavor is my favorite. That cream on the top is just divine.

Fingers and toes crossed for Vanilla and her embryos.

Vanilla, I hope those little vanillabeans grow and grow for you!

PI, what a sweet story. I love reading stuff like that.

LPP, hope you're going to have that baby soon!

mrs hi-c, I love that picture. You and hubby look so happy. Now Shadow on the other hand.... [Wink]

My BeanSprout is growing and growing. He just had his 4th birthday last month. I can't believe how big he's getting. People are mistaking him for a 5 year old, because he's so big. Sigh. The time sure flies, doesn't it?

Ugh. I'm tired today. I'm in the process of getting over a stomach virus. It hit yesterday. I was wondering at first if it was some leftover morning sickness or something, because it hit just as I got up in the morning. I figured after I couldn't keep even just plain water down, it wasn't. My husband got ready for work, and left at his usual time, and was home by 12:30 with the same thing.
Everything was going okay, except I started getting some pains low in my abdomen. I figured I should get it checked out. I was more worried over the baby and my husband than I was for myself. My husband ending up driving me in to the clinic/hospital, even though he really shouldn't have. I tried calling neighbors, but no one was home. After two bags of fluid and some monitoring of the baby, I was allowed to go home with some pills for the nausea. I was actually asked if I wanted to stay the night there, but I really wanted my own bed.
The doctor was worried about my husband (his fever broke just as the doctor came in), but our insurance right now only covers me for emergency visits like this, and not my husband. So we worried more about getting me checked out with the baby and whatnot. Everything is fine. I got to lie down in bed for a few hours while they were giving me the fluids, and my husband requested a recliner or something for himself. Then I shared my supper with him a little bit. He looked a lot worse than I did, though this morning he's doing better than I am. I'm slowly getting my strength back. Even though I'm ravenously hungry, I don't want to push it too much.

I am a little worried about needing to get any weight that I lost back on before my regular prenatal appointment on Tues. When I was weighed yesterday, it showed that I gained only 3 pounds over the pregnancy, but I know that can't be right. I don't want my midwife to give me a talk about eating properly.

Hubby thinks Frank smiled at him last night. he said it was really quick, but he's pretty sure it was a real smile and not gas.

Grow Vanilla beans!

Okay, so I'm popping my little head in once again because I could really use some of the snopes water. (yeah, I know I posted this in another thread, but I bet this is the best place to get it!)

Juan and I are trying for baby # 1, and I am really hoping for a positive pregnancy test over the weekend. My period is due, so I am really hoping it just never comes. I'm not holding out too much hope, thoughbecause I'm feeling depressed about it today for some reason. This is really just our first month of trying, but the timing would be amazing. His parents will be in the country visiting us for thanksgiving and this will be the one chance we would have to share good news in person.

Thanks guys.

Zorro, you're hysterical. [Smile] Yes, everything came out fine. It wasn't as much as I expected, but I'll take what I get. And Frank may well be smiling. The first few smiles are usually fleeting, but it won't be long before he smiles at every goofy thing you do. [Smile]

gudrin... yoinks, what a scare. I'm imagining everything checked out just fine or else you would have posted more details about it. Whereabouts are you in your pregnancy? Only gained 3 pounds... sounds like me! I was in my 7th or 8th month with both pregnancies before I gained any real weight (not counting the gain back from the weight lost from almost 4 months of morning sickness both times). With Saleh, my midwife kept harping on me about gaining weight. I convinced her that it was migrating, because my thighs and butt were slimming down and my... erm... back fat was less mighty than it had previously been. She still wasn't terribly happy, but seemed to accept it. [Smile]

PA... don't mind me slipping fertility drugs in the water. Really it's just Vitamin C and... oh, I can't keep a straight face! The best advice I can give you is try not to stress about it. If you're just now starting, don't expect it to happen right away. I mean, it'd be super cool if it did, but try to not get your hopes up every month. I know from 14 months of personal experience that doing this TOTALLY sucks and can only lead to honest depression (versus the "depressed" that gets overused to mean "bummed out"). I'll send you some Missouri-bound vibes that it happens soon enough that you are happy about it. [Smile] HUGS
