thanks for the concern. I was sick for two days.
I kinda think it might be partially my nerves: I go in for a sort of major dental surgery tomorrow and will be down for the rest of the week. I'm nervous and getting minor anxiety attacks but know that it must be done as my Tylonol intake has become hazzardous and the pain levels have not dropped.
Please send some vibes my way? TIA

I just spent $319 at the vet clinic, and my vet (who I used to work for) was trying to guilt-trip me into scheduling a dental cleaning for my dog. I know his teeth are filthy, but I can barely afford his vaccines, heartworm & flea prevention, and medications as it is. There goes my birthday *and* my Christmas money.

OKay, I am very frustrated about something. I was out sick yesterday (stomach virus or something0. I also found out that my Dad probably needs heart surgery. So I didn't sleep all that well last night.
I did have one very memorable dream, though, and I am still mad at the person in my dream, even though he has done nothing like it IRL, nor is he likely to do something like this IRL.
In my dream, a very good friend of mine asked me to meet him at a restaurant. I did, and he was sitting next to this pretty young thing whom he introduced as his fiancee. But he still wanted me to sit next to him and hold hands.
But wait-- it gets even better. He announces that he is getting married next month (I am inivited to the wedding, natch) and he and sweetie pie are planning on starting a family soon. What does this have to do with me?
Well, he figures that The Boutros would make a most excellent "family dog" and that I should give the Boutros to them as a wedding gift.
I woke up furious. I still am furious. This is way out of proportion to anything that my friend would do IRL (I have been clear that the Boutros and I are a package deal ). I keep telling myself that this didn't really happen and I should not be mad, but still I am.
I know when I talk to him tonight and tell him, we are going to have a good laugh. But I am afraid I am going to let it carry over to realy life.
This has happened before (not with this particular person, but with others) and we have had a good laugh. Maybe it is lack of sleep that is making me so touchy.
How do you all handle this when it happens?
I know in a few days, I will look back and laugh.
Argggghhhhh!
I am hoping it is just a stress response!
Help!

We just found out today that my youngest son is the first pick for a Christmas-themed motion picure that shoots in Montreal, for 6 weeks, starting next week.
He so aced the audition that they don't even want to see him back. Apparently they are just working out the financial details because it will cost them a lot to fly and feed him and my husband and put them up for 6 weeks.
I'm delighted, but a little nervous for him, too. Of course, he's never been away from home for that long.

Seems like you're already facin' the best plan, TGal. You know it's a dream response to stress, to new situations/relationships in contrast to old. You know the person in question would never act in such a way. And you also know you're gonna' laugh about it later. You're the tops! Now, shing us a shong, shweetheart.

Thanks, IND. I am just afraid that I will be a little bitchy on the phone when I talk to him tonight, without meaning to. Which is totally unfair (I was already a little cranky last night, but he seemed to take that in stride).
Why am I mad at someone who makes me so darned happy most of the time??? Unfair, I tell you, unfair!

Every year around the September, I have a dream where the local school district says I was paid too much money and I have to quit my job and go back to teaching. Also, I often have dreams where I've taken my ex-husband back out of pity. and I can see everyone's sooo disappointed in me for doing so.
Those mornings, I wake up depressed as shit. So I tend to treat myself before work. Maybe a donut. It doesn't mean anything. Except maybe as a reminder of what misery is.

I dunno, for fear of being hurt or for fear of buying into something that you’re worried is too good to be true, I s'pose. Of course, it would be too good to be true if you never got mad with yer fella.
Impossible reality. That's whom you should really be mad at. Or me, I'll be yer punchin' bag. I'll take one for the team. Come on, punch me in the face!

Chloe, The friend to whom I refer is very nice and I know he wouldn't do that. And I do like him very, very much.
I also imagine that he will find this whole thing quite amusing and I will get teased about it quite unmercifully. If I can avoid being really bitchy to him before I tell him.
And IND, I couldn't punch you in the face. You are also very nice. Now, perhaps a spanking...

Because you can. Because this is someone you trust to care about you even when you're in a crappy mood. Because this isn't someone you have to "front" for, this is someone you can reveal your true feelings to.
You know this in the front of your mind, but the "once bitten, twice shy" part of your brain has decided on a little test before it makes up your (subconscious) mind.
He won't hit you, he won't yell at you, he won't take all your money and spend it on a MuffinButt and then tell you it's all your fault. He may be puzzled, but he won't be unduly upset by your perceived irrational crankiness. And then you both will laugh about it, and you will trust him a little bit more.

Four Kitties, that is pretty much the way I think it will go down. I talked to him briefly about an unrelated matter a few minutes ago (didn't have time to go into the dream), but just laughing about something else made it all feel better.
I am rather looking forward to the laugh we will have this evening!
Thanks everyone for helping me sort this out!

If this were some sort of horror movie, he'd bury you in a shallow grave. Then the Boutros would dig you up at the full moon, doggie love and moonbeams would reanimate you, and Boutros and Zombie T-Girl would eat his brain.

To set the scene, Brandon got a DUI because he was "tired of always trying to do the right thing," and now he's all stressed because his parents can't trust him anymore.
Dylan: So how you holdin' up, man? Brandon: It's like there's a dark cloud hanging over my house, with neon lights flashing, "Disappointment! Disappointment!" Dylan (gazing broodingly off into the distance): I know that cloud.

Oh, that was fun. Anyways, F_F I know you've been featured in a dream or two of mine. In fact, just the other night I dreamed you and I were searching for Oceanic Aura, because we thought she was lost in the woods. We for some reason found it necessary to put on tiaras and mittens before entering the woods. Once there we realized that not only was Oceanic Aura not lost in the woods, they weren't even real woods, she set it all up as a surprise party for me because it was my 27th birthday. I got all freaked out because I couldn't remember turning 22 through 26.
