Just so as not to waste the post: Q. What do southerners do at Halloween?
A. Pumpkin.
Sorry.
YOMANK! And I'll tell you why, it's nothing to do with the actual joke. At two call centers I have worked at, they show a customer service related video where one of the messages is to replace foul language that customers use in your head with a more harmless word (going on the principle that words have no inherit meaning other than what we assign them). In one scene a guy is cussing out a rep and it is bleeped out so all we can here is "un" making it sound like he is saying "f*ckin'". In a later scene, we hear it from the rep's perspective, in which she is replacing the word with "pumpkin." Annoying after seeing it the second time, but it cracked everyone up the first time I saw it. Now that that joke is in context, YOMANK!

A bit too holocausty or killing fieldsesque for me. Funny, I'd find a single skull perfectly fine--it's just the way they seem to be piled up that's freaking me out.
I found it a bit disturbing as well, especially when I first loaded the page and thought I'd gone to some goth site by mistake. I'm less upset by it now.

New Theme! I love it. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We've already carved two pumpkins! I'm so excited! Squeeeee!
What I love best about Halloween is that you can leave the decore up all year round unlike other holidays. Spiderwebs and skulls are bitching for a full 365. Love, love, love it!
I've got a new icon, name and sig line in honor of the holiday. Can anyone tell me if my name change is too obscure? Thanks!
Off to spookify my myspace page!

Not to be another complainer, but when a thread is on multiple pages, the black text that shows what page you are on tends to get lost in the black/dark grey of the background.

I think my new name fits much better than my previous names. Bonus points if anyone knows where I got my name from.

But you don't to see the page you're on (it's not a link), you only need to see the links to the other pages anyway, right?

Awesome avatar, Cora Aura. As for the meaning of your themed name, I can only assume you speak of the innumerable hauntings and strange emissions of light reported at the ole California Outdoor Rollerskating Association rink. Right? Right. Obviously.

I choose to see the skulls in a happy, Day of the Dead sort of way, then it's not sad or tragic.

I think the skulls are the best part of the new theme-- very spooky and Halloween-y. I see them more in a horror movie or haunted house type vibe, which is just fine with me! Halloween is my favorite time of year, it's when I can put all my collections and favorite things out and no one thinks I'm weird/creepy...
I've already started decorating the front windows!

(I'll take that as a yes to my query, but I like the way you think.)
I enjoy your avatar likewise. You know, it's often that I find myself making idle chit-chat with someone and thinking, "Gee, I sure would like to beat this person with their own viscera."

I thought you were kidding in the original post.
The background that I see on my computer is black and grey with a subtle pattern of skulls, looking like a version of the catacombs where the skull have just been piled on top of each other. what do you see as the background?

I see a jack-o'lantern on a black background when I go to "forum home," "my profile," etc. Most of the individual forum pages seem to be the same as they were before, but this one has a cute little ghost holding a trick-or-treat bag. Of course, I haven't been to every forum since the theme changed, so I may be missing something.

Signora the black background you see is actually the pile of skulls in black and grey tones. Perhaps the contrast on your monitor is not enough to show up the greys.

Thanks, curlygirl. I was starting to think I'd lost what is left of my mind! I adjusted, but it's so bright I can't look at it long, so I'll have to put it back. But, I did finally see the skulls.

I can live with the orange, and the new post icons are cute. But.... the skull background reminds me too much of the pictures I've seen of opened graves at some of the Nazi "killing fields" places. Too horrific, IMHO. I realize that I'm in the minority here, but I just don't like the background.
And First, I've stopped caring about Halloween too. As a matter of fact, I make it a point to go elsewhere on Halloween night so I don't have to deal with the greedy teenagers who make it a habit of terrorizing the little ones, taking their candy, and raising havoc. The little ones are cute, with parents hovering in the background prompting the "Twick or Tweat" cries, and their cute costumes, but when 15-year-olds come to my door in their goth make-up, it really turns me off.
Just my .02.

I hate to admit this but there are several posters on this board who have changed their names into secondary puns with this new topics so many times that I actually have no idea what their actual non-pun chat names really are.
And on several occasions it took me a good long while to figure out what original pun the name was based on, since the person kept changed it to a secondary pun based on the topic.
