I was just reading my local free weekly paper, The Boulder Weekly, and goodness, the letters section was quite a sight! It was the printed version I was reading, but fortunately, for your convenience, it's in the online version as well. Go here, and scroll down to the "Render unto Caesar" letter...
Don't blame the paper; it's the letter writer's fault. Though I guess the paper should know better.
