There was this man who was very rich. He decided to allow a church to be built on his land on one condition. The carpet had to be a certain color. The church refused this owner's one small request. That request was costly. You see this church would have been built where now a famous secular university where its frontage is malibu Beach. The name of the university is Peperdine University. And what I have told you really happened.
Sometimes tough decisions will come and they are Chrsitlike. After all Christ did not bring peace, but a sword because His peace was not what the world was seeking, but for those who find rest in Jesus, true peace, The Sabboth that passes all understanding! But the Peperdine University incident was tragic and in this writers opinion unchristlike.

Which part does the writer consider unlike Christ? Is it the part where a man put conditions on his gift to God, or the part where the church refused to accept the conditional gift?

Pepperdine isn't a secular university though. It might not be a church sponsored or affiliated university but it is definitely a Christian university.
http://www.pepperdine.edu/welcome/about/valuecentered.htm
quote:
As a Christian University, Pepperdine Affirms:
That God is
That God is revealed uniquely in Christ
That the educational process may not, with impunity, be divorced from the divine process
That the student, as a person of infinite dignity, is the heart of the educational enterprise
That the quality of student life is a valid concern of the University
That truth, having nothing to fear from investigation, should be pursued relentlessly in
every discipline
That spiritual commitment, tolerating no excuse for mediocrity, demands the highest standards of academic excellence
That freedom, whether spiritual, intellectual, or economic, is indivisible
That knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service

ETA: Oh and furthermore:
http://www.pepperdine.edu/welcome/about/history.htm

quote:
History of the University

Founder George Pepperdine

George Pepperdine, the founder of Western Auto Supply Company, established Pepperdine University in 1937. He envisioned a college with the highest academic standards guided by the spiritual and ethical ideals of Christian faith. For thirty years, Pepperdine College was a small undergraduate school located in south-central Los Angeles. It gained university status in 1971 when a school of law was added and the business and education departments became separate schools. In 1972, through the generosity of Mrs. Frank Roger Seaver, Pepperdine opened a new 830-acre campus in Malibu. In 1975, the undergraduate program was named Seaver College in honor of the Seavers.

Why was it tragic? Was it the church who was in the wrong, because it refused the "one small request"? Or was it the man for being so conditional? And does that mean it's a horrible tragedy that Pepperdine University is here, instead of a church in its stead? Gah!

Well I did read an article on HP and why the Harry Potter books were satanic. Basiclaly the book had a frequent and subtle use of evil satanic/pagan colors or something. But when you looked a list of said satanic colors, they were pretty much every color of the rainbow! I got a good laugh out of that. So I guess whem my pastor friend wears white and green tennis outfits he must be summoning satan?

That would be this page, Ink Rose? The one with a review that tries to establish a connection between a character's green cloak, Harry's green eyes, green cake frosting, green hangings in the Great Hall, green ink on an invitation, and the unsourced assertion that green is "Satan's favorite color"?

So if green's Satan's favourite colour, does that mean all the grass and all the plants in the world are Satanic? Am I going to burn in hell for eating salads?

Hmmm, the page doesn't actually say how using the colours listed means you're promoting satanism. But it does say that Rowling is definitely satanic because she uses the colours from two sources in her stories. Those colours are:

From one source: Gray, clear, crimson, bright [that's a colour?], purple, black, dark grey-green, brown, variegated colours, grass-green, red, turquise blue and white.

From the other: brown, dark blue, white, yellow, red, green, gold, blue, violet, red-brown and orange.

Their own argument is kind of shot down by their repeated reference to Rowling using "emerald green" (missing from the lists above). But even if not, I'd like to know what colours they thought she should be using. I'm hard pressed to think of a colour that's not on those lists!

'White'? Huh? In the context of the Judeo-Christian belief system at least, isn't white generally considered symbolic of holiness, or at least cleanliness?

At any rate, yes, those lists are wholly foolish. Apparently, those Rainbow Brite dolls I had as a kid corrupted me for all time.

Trish.... HOW IN THE NAME OFALL TAHT IS HOLY did you not warn me it had bad music and liked to bog computers? I just broke my internet, and I was in the middle of watching anime online too so my sound was up [Razz]

Beisdes, I read snatches of someone dissing the Pythagoreans. Now, I grew up hating algebra and geometry as much as the next person, but geez, that was so out of line! I love phi (like to be confused with the 3.14 pie), and the golden ratio. This is why pentagrams rock! They're just stuffed full of the divine ratio. Besides, the natural world is full of examples of fractals, fibonacci sequences. and phi. So I guess God must be demonic too? http://goldennumber.net/
It's in like everything.

So, if Pythogoreas and the pentagram is evil, then so are sunflowers, roses, ferns, humans... And the next time someone spouts crapola like this, start declaring your love for math! [Big Grin]

I'll stop lecturing y'all now

That site's well known here in the Glurge section, mostly for that goofy "Paisley print is a sign of Teh Debil" section (although the rest of the site's equally nuts). It's - heaven help us all - a serious site, not a joke site. For it sayth on the maineth pageth:

quote:
This site is written mainly to "Christians". If you want a closer walk with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, read on. If you want to learn about Deliverance, Spiritual Warfare and REALLY destroy the works of the devil, read on.
It also sayeth:

quote:
If you can hear the "Oh the Blood of Jesus" midi file, and it gets under your skin, don't turn your speakers off. The demons absolutely hate this song or any song that is about the Blood of Jesus. The more this bothers you, the more demon infested you are. You actually could get some Deliverance by having this tune play in the background, and some demons may actually leave your home or apartment too. Tape the song and play it in your home over and over.
It also also sayeth ape poopy things like thiseth:

quote:
BOYCE and BOICE are two demons that interfere with any electronic equipment, i.e., phone, computer, printer, automibile. If something malfunctions, command these two demons to leave your equipment, in the name of Jesus.
quote:
Would you like help from being Depressed? Abused? Afraid? Tormented? Suicidal? Sick? Alcoholic? Addict? Obese? Homosexual (gay, lesbian)? Witch? Satanist? Brotherhood? Want out of the occult or a cult? Hooked on porno? Dying? Diseased? Molester? Self-Abuse? Bi-polar? Etc.? Get Saved, then cast out these demons!

Hilarious! Thanks, Trish. I was looking for a way to kill some time.

It does clarify that towns named Paisley are okay; it is just the pattern that contains the demons. I am thinking of writing the author to see whether it is okay that I named my cat Paisley. I think it is okay, since she doesn't have the actual pattern, but I want to be safe.

Can you imagine living life like this guy/girl/group of people? What must it be like to think there are demons in everything? I almost feel sorry for him.
