That way, you can either choke them, or they will have to walk around with you attached to them until you let go.

Who knew that Bacon Bits existed in 4th century BCE China? If friends truly are the bacon bits in the salad bowl of life, I suppose one may infer that vegetarians, Jews, and Muslims are all friendless.

-Huh?
-Okay, I'll see what I can do to this piece of friendship glurge. *wicked grin*
To My Friends
If you should die before me, ask if you could bring a friend.
-How nice, a death wish. Yuck, I wouldn't want to drag my friends with me before it's their time to go. I don't believe God honors these sorts of requests.
-- Stone Temple Pilots
-Which one of them said that?
If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.
-Okay, now you're scaring me, I'm not your life line. When you die, you die, no sense pondering such morbid things, but then again, this is friendship chaim mail after all, and wouldn't be complete without plenty of mulling over your own mortality and that of your "best friend's".
-- Winnie the Pooh
-I don't remember him saying that but anyway, what can you expect from a stuffed bear?
True friendship is
-*Rolling eyes and yawning* Here we go.
like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost.
-- Charles Caleb Colton
-Did he really say that? Whoever said it must not know much about the way other people feel about friends.
A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.
-Or walks out when the world walks in, I get it.
Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend. -- Albert Camus
-Did he really say that?
Strangers are just frie nds waiting to happen.
-Yeah yeah, tired old cliche. Got a newsflash, strangers can also be enemies waiting to happen, or simply *drum roll* remain strangers!
Friends are the Bacon Bits in the Salad Bowl of Life.
-Rolling eyes* How corny! Just as bad as the chain about God brewing life up as coffee, so! So, which life am I living in, coffee or salad? Besides, some of us don't like salad.
Friendship is one mind in two bodies. -- Mencius
-Who!? And did he/she really say that? Uhm, no, friends are two minds in two bodies. One mind in two bodies only happens in bad horror movies.
Friends are God's way of taking care of us.
-So is the ability to survive. Duh. Friends are just part of being human - we're naturally a social species.
I'll lean on you and you lean on me and we'll be okay
-Untill one of us nods off and we fall over.
-- Dave Matthews
-Did he really say that?
If all my friends were to jump off a bridge, I wouldn't jump with them, I'd be at the bottom to catch them.
-Because you're so anxious to play hero that you make friends who you know are likely to jump off a bridge and wait as you dog-paddle or tread water? Or how about this, you wait under an over-pass in traffic, causing cars to nearly hit you, just so you can get killed when your "friends fall on you from above and crush you to death? Because that's what would happen, and you wouldn't be a hero, you'd be a dead hero.
Everyone hears what you say.
-Really? Oh gosh, golly, I guess that makes the telephone, two-way-radios and any other long distance communication device completely unnecessary, doesn't it!? Better be careful not to make some other bodily sound in case everyone can hear that as well!
Friends listen to what you say. Best friends listen to what you don't say.
-Oh brother, the "simple VS true friend" thing. *Yawn* So, "friends" and "best friends" does that mean if you're a "best friend" you're not a "friend"?
We all take different paths in life,
-Noooooooo kidding! DUH! And here I thought everybody took the same path! Is there another path? I think I'm lost.
but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere ..;
-So that's what this extra arm is, does anybody want this back!?
-- Tim McGraw
-Did he really say that?
My father always used to say that when you die, if you've got five real friends, then you've had a great life.;
-- Lee Iacocca
-Okay, so? And did he really say that?
Hold a true friend with both your hands.;
-Sorry, I'm not clingy or quite that touchie-feelie.
-- Nigerian Proverb
-Is it really?
A friend is
-Huge yawn*
someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.;
-Oh sure, if you love the same kind of music and your mind has experienced a short circuit. But then, if friends are supposed to share minds, wouldn't your friend blank out on the song with you? Uhm, nevermind, we're not supposed to insert anything like logic into these chain mails.

I have seen this quote before, and I always thought it really did not sound like Winnie the Pooh. I don't recall any references to death or dying in the Pooh books.
Sure enough, I just searched inside "The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh" on Amazon and did not find the quote. All the uses of the word "hundred" referred to the Hundred-Acre Wood.
In a quick Google search, I found in Wikipedia that it is "attributed" to A. A. Milne (not the same as Winnie the Pooh!) but nothing more specific.
I also found one place that attributed it to Calvin and Hobbes, which I could believe. It sounds a lot more like Hobbes than Pooh to me.
