Comment: Could you please remove this page
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/gruesome/headless.asp

There are children close to the victim who could someday see this page by
googling his name and could be very affected.

Unless you already took the picture down.... surely they don't think the dude with the swirley x-ray specs is the guy in question.

For the record, I think that snopes.com has done a good job in "hiding" pictures that could be thought of as gruesome. Of course, all you have to do is click a link, and there is a warning that the content is graphic, etc., so it's not difficult to see it... but it's not like you can just sit around going, "Ho hum... I reckon I'll check out this Snopes website I hear so much about... la-dee-dah... WTF!? A severed HEAD??"

As one of your admirers, (Your are doing a great work!)I write to suggest
that there is one dangerous error! You say it is "True", but I think it
has been PhotoShopped and so doctored that it is "False". It endangers
your remarkable reputation to say "True". Be very careful.

I urge you to say, "Questioned". I simply do not believe me eyes that a
group of irate Arabs would all carry such signs in exactly the same hand
in such a manner that they are precisely offered to the photographer's
lens.

The wordings are in very explicitly offensive colloquial English. The
signs are all printed in one person's handprinting.

"If it looks to good to be true, it probably...."

My personal "Critical Thinker" mind says that we've been fooled by a
hacker/PhotoShopper/journalist/geek who is smiling at having fooled Snopes
so far.

Please modify your page to say "Questioned"? That's just until you or I
can dig into the underlyings.

confirmed he is real, but he believes he was hacked into. You must make

Comment: I am curious how you considered Ms. Brigitte Gabriel's speech to
the "counter terrorism" conference at Duke University to be worthy for
inclusion on the site. On the face of it, Ms. Gabriel's speech is no more
than propaganda and distortion of the history of the Lebanese Civil War.
Her account leaves out much of Israel's culpability for arming and
supporting right wing Christian militias and Israel's lengthy occupation
of Lebanon. Israel in fact supported the Christian Phalange that is
accused of massacring hundreds of civilians in the Sabra and Shatila
refugee camps in 1982.
Please issue a clarification as to why the speech was included or post a
competing speech or article that looks at the issues Ms. Gabriel addresses
from a Palestinian/Lebanese perspective.

the Yukon is over next to Alaska, above B.C. and rarely if ever sees a

Comment: I am writing concerning:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/commandtoy.asp

Where it is true that the "Forward Command Post" toy is being sold by J.C.
Penny and others, it is a toy representing modern day warfare. It is a
toy no different then toys sold in the past. There have been action
figures depicting Roman warriors, Vikings, Pirates, World War I soldiers,
World War II soldiers, etc. All of these action figures could be bought
with their respective buildings, animals, hills, vehicles, etc. All of
these toys were meant to entertain and (believe it or not) to teach
children, these toys also bring honor to our troops and instill a sense of
patriotism in our kids. The "Forward Command Post" is no different than
previous war related toys, except to say that it reflects modern day
warfare (house to house).

With that said, I'll explain my reason for writing. I feel that you
should also note on your webpage that the author of that message happens
to be an anti-war activist with their own agendas. Since the only wars we
are presently involved in are in Afghanistan and Iraq, the anti-war
protestors are targeting that particular toy; which depicts house to house
fighting. Since your site has so many viewer hits, what better way for
them to get their anti-war message across then to make a ridiculous claim,
only to have it confirmed as true by a very renowned site. This instills
a false thought in the minds of your readers. The message also
intimidates the stores involved into giving in to anti-war sentiments for
fear of losing business.

No one wants to hear of people dying or for there to be wars, but we must
recognize that we live in a day and age where war has taken on a new look
and is more horrific than it ever was. We also need to realize that war
strategies are much more complex than ever. Not only do these strategies
include the actions by our generals and troops on the battlegrounds, but
also the actions of our politicians, news media and civilian population
back home. Any simple action at home can now have a great effect on our
war efforts.

I don't really think there is anything wrong with these stores selling the
"Forward Command Post"; it reflects the modern type of warfare (as
previous war related toys did during their times). You did what you had
to do in confirming that message, but I feel that it should have been
noted that the message's author is part of an anti-war movement with their
own agendas.

Comment: http://www.snopes.com/critters/graphics/shredder.gif

this is not funny.

it's contained in this article:

http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/shredder.asp

i love snopes.com and even joined an RSS feed on livejournal, so i could
be updated as snopes.com is updated.

when i read this article, i was horrified. the thought of my dog or one of
my nephews being mangled by a shredder is simply too awful to contemplate.

i finished the article feeling thankful that my puppy is never anywhere
near a shredder and went on to another website.. only to click the back
button to be sure i'd actually seen what i thought i saw -- an animated
gif of someone being shredded contained in an article about animals and
children being injured.

is this your idea of some kind of joke? because it isn't funny. this is
tantamount to an animated gif of a car accident contained in an article
about vehicular manslaughter.

please make it a point to be a little more compassionate. i don't want to
have to stop visiting your website but if this kind of thing is repeated,
i'll have no choice.

Actually... hyperbole is hysterical. That's why jokes are funny, because there is one aspect of a situation that is skewed to ridiculous and unrealistic proportions. A picture of a screaming child with their hand caught in a shredder or a dog with their tongue caught in a shredder is not funny. A cartoon-like graphic of feet dangling out of a shredder is hilarious!

Go to your doctor... get a prescription for Valium... take a hot shower... take a nap... get on with your life and stop taking things so seriously.
