Comment: Several years back I spent one week in Vegas. I spent a good
portion of my time playing slots. When I would leave the gaming area
(outside or to my room) I would experience shortness of breath EVERY time.
So, with respect to your site, I insist that they MUST pump oxygen into
the casinos. No clocks, no drinking fountains, alcohol and oxygen pumped
in equals more spending. It just seems logical to me. Please let me know
what you think.

First of all, you probably should spend more time getting up from the slot machines.

Second, what does drinking fountains have to do with spending more time in the casino? Maybe its the two hours of sleep, but I just don't get it.

ETA: I just thought of this after I posted...Maybe YOU were the slot and after being coined/pumped so much you couldn't catch your breath...someone feel free to make this joke better [fish]

I think the correspondent is (shakily) assuming that the lack of drinking fountains induces people to drink more (free) booze, thereby weakening their judgement/will to stop gambling.

Or maybe, the less water you drink, the less time you'll spend going to the restroom instead of gambling.

Maybe it's just me, but I think I use the bathroom more when I'm drinking alcohol than when I drink water. And once you start, you can't seem to stop.

Comment: i just watched a movie called "eavesdropper" (here is a link to
it's site, www.eavesdropperthemovie.com) it says it is based on true
events. it is hard to beleave cause it's about a girl in 1997 who lost her
hearing and got experimental treatment that not only restored her hearing
but also she can now hear other peoples thoughts.

do you know what part of this movie is true?

I don't see what's so unbelievable about this movie. I was once blind, but I had experimental surgery done in 1996 and now not only can I see, but I can see right through people's clothes.

Trust me, it's both a blessing and a curse.

Comment: i'd like to start a legend. it seems that now with all of these
fad diets and low carbed, vainly obssesed people, no one is eating
birthday cake. i guess it seems somewhat tacky that you would limit
yourself so much as to not partake wholely in a celebration because of
silly obssesions that limit fun. the legend is about how if you don't eat
cake at a birthday, that, that person who's birthday it is, their wish
will not come true. sounds silly but i think it would be fun to make
people feel obligated at a seven year olds birthday party.

Still nursing a few issues about our seventh birthday, are we?

I love it that the OP has specifically decided to start his own UL. There's nothing like DIY. At least we now know where all those e-mails in Inboxer Rebellion come.

Wouldn't it be interesting if someone actually sent in a free-range example of the UL started by this guy?

This may get me chucked out of Snopes, but...I've actually thought about doing this before. There's something perversely fascinating about the idea of starting a UL and just seeing how far it goes.

Is this just me?

Comment: I was told that the reason cops stereotypically have mustaches is
because in the '50s and '60s they were forced to act as prostitutes. They
grew mustaches to prevent from having to pose as women, but now consider
it a 'traditional' cops look. Is this true?

So instead they only have to pose as male prostitutes and hang around the blue oyster club in leather gear and moustaches.

Isn't possible that the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" goes back to the
early Christian church in Biblical days where Christianity itself was
persecuted and it wasn't just a matter of Anglican and Catholicism?

The song "The 12 days of Christmas" actually pre-dates Christianity by 7 years. The religious celebration was actually named after the song, what with Jesus being born on Christmas day and all.

The song was appropriated by the Catholic Church in 3 AD and the words were changed to reflect modern attitudes. The new lyrics included "9 resurrections, 8 whores a'stoning, 7 pagans burning, 6 crucifictions, 5 holy wars, 4 walks on water, 3 wise men, 2 Mel Gibson movies and a special day just to piss off the Jews."

The song was not a big hit.
