Somebody sent this to me and asked if it were true. I believe this was taken from another message board. My first reaction was that it was clearly paranoid bullshit due to the reelection...
quote:Have Yall heard that info about blacks not being able to vote in 2007? If yal haven't its like an email going around saying that the African Amercian Voter's Right act will be outdated in the year 2007. Like every president so far has signed and renewed it and stuff....and i guess people didn't know that it wasnt a law for us to be able to vote. Our secretary annouced it at church last sunday and everybody was like oooh i didn't know and all that. But enyway i checked up on it and its like a 15th Amendment (sp?) i'm not sure if an Amendment is a law or not but i looked it up on my world book cd. I'll post it on her after i get through checking all this other stuff out but has enybody else gotten that e-mail or heard about it?
-shea, good thing 2007 isn't an election year

The Voter's right act will expire, but that law merely provides for election monitors and forbids (some) states from changing their voting laws without Federal approval. It certainly does not take away anyone's right to vote.
