Comment: When Tiger Woods first joined the PGA, he tried to enter a
riverboat casino while in Iowa for a tournament. The attendant at the
entrance thought he looked too young and asked Tiger for identification.
Tiger asked him if he knew who he was and said "I'm Tiger Woods". The
attendant said, "I don't care if you're the lion king, you're not coming
in without an ID".

Doesnt matter who you are, in certain areas they will allways card you reguardless. Minnesota stae law requres that if you look like your under 40, you get carded. Now I dont get carded all the time, but thats pecause people know who I am and have carded me before. (im 24 in case your interested in knowing)

Many stores have adopted the "If you look under x age, we will card you" policy, but none of those are state law, but I am pretty sure none of these have been adopted into state law (what does 40 look like, anyway?).

As a part-time bartender, I've only served as substitute doorstaff. My main training consisted of being 6'2" and 210 pounds, but one warning I was given include this caveat.

Anybody who says they're somebody, aint.

I believe the law (Illinois) says that you must have an ID to be served alcohol, regardless of age. I've never checked the truth of that, though. However, all the package stores in our township have begun to card everybody, no matter how ridiculously over 21 they appear. I've been told that the town both that the town just adopted a must-have-ID law or that it is now simply enforcing it.
