Got this in the ole' inbox today. Don't know of any truth behind it. But it is interesting in it's own little closed minded way.

quote:
Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.
---Pat Robertson - speech at GOP Presidential Convention (1992)

The quote is accurate as I remember it. I'm not sure it was said at the convention, but I remember reading about the quote and the outraged response to it.

Not a speech but a fundraising letter
quote:
"The feminist agenda is notabout equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." That is what television evangelist Pat Robertson wrote in a recent letter to help raise money to defeat Amendment 1, an Iowa ballot initiative that would extend the protections of the state constitution to women . .
. (The Washington Post, August 23, 1992)

Ah, yes, let's blame the women! After all, a man's influence in a child's life is absolutely meaningless! : )
Share the blame peoples!

After thinking about it for a while, I have decided to share the blame. But not much of it.

This woman didn't have a choice. She would much rather have been a SAHM until the children were at least out of high-school. Somebody, however, had to support those children. So, did I stay at home with them and let them starve, or did I go to work so I could buy groceries?

[/QUOTE]

Do you have any evidence to support that assertion? How do you define "going downhill?" When did that process start, and how do you suggest we measure it? When did women start working full time?

Really? And when was that? Sometime during the 18th century? Because, you know, women--even those with children--worked outside the home full time during the 19th century.

Or else their children starved.

Um, since the last post before mine was from 2001, it may be a while before anyone's questions can be answered.

It just takes me a while to think, is all.

Wow, Brad, you sure did think about that a long time..... like 5 years???

I must not be much of a femminist. I have only done one of the five things listed. I'll leave which one to your imagination....

At least sherri_lu appears to still be registered, so maybe she'll see these and attempt to defend her indefensible statement.

Hmm. Maybe indefensible should be one of my "words you can't spell."
