In the Critter Country section, we have a urban legend that goes back to a tale by Baron Munchausen (or "Münchhausen", as the German spelling would be).
We had another one here recently about a hunter tieing some bait to a string and catching several ducks on a row with it, that were tied together already to carry them home. IIRC, this story has a Munchausen origin as well, even if I can't find it in the online edition.
A German book of ULs ( The Spider in the Yucca Plant) has a story about a hunter who attacks a wild boar with his hunting knife, sporting a cherry wood handle. He doesn't kill the boar, and it makes off with the knife in his side. The next year the hunter shoots a boar in the same area, and to his surprise finds a cherry tree growing from it's side - his knife had taken roots. This story is a variant of one of the Baron's tales ( Chapter IV).

On the subject of the Baron, for those of you interested in non-traditional RPGs/party games, you can't go wrong with the Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen, published by the previous staff of Hogshead Publishing, a great mini meta-RPG/drinking game where the object is to make up the most outrageous story off the top of your head. The winner of course buys a round of drinks for the party.

It isn't quite the same thing as capturing ducks...but I have fed a blob of beef-fat on a string to a line of three geese. You know the phrase, "like grease through a goose?" That one is valid!
