Just thought of this while watching an old Dr Katz episode:

quote:
Patient: It just gets in my "craw". Wherever that's located.
Dr. Katz: I think it's located next to your "druthers".

What the heck is a craw? Where did this word come from? Any ideas?

I always heard the phrase as "X just sticks in my craw" and associated it with a bird's crop.

Which makes no sense etomologically.

I've heard it in this Kids in the Hall sketch. But it doesn't shed any light on meaning [Wink]
