That reminds me of a story I saw not too long ago. It was about this black man that died penniless. Everybody at least tolerated him, if they didn't like him. He had no family though, and so couldn't have a funeral service.
The community was going to give him a burial, but something happened. I can't remember now. lol ANYWAYS... He was already embalmed, so the owner of the funeral parlour used his body as a kind of showpiece for prospective future customers. He pointed out the fine level of preservation.
He stayed there for many decades, his clothes being changed to suit the tastes of the time. He became something of a tourist attraction in the area. Eventually, not too long ago, the community finally decided it was time to put the poor guy to rest. Once again the money was donated and this time it worked right!
The man was given his own official "holiday" in town. Throngs of people turned out to watch his funeral procession and to attend his funeral. It took decades, but the poor old black man with no family at last had a true resting place.

I thought of the Georgia Crematory Horror, in which this guy stored hundreds of uncremated bodies all over his property. The situation was discovered about 2 years ago, and it's just now going through the justice system.
