I had the day off the other day and I watched The View. Somehow the topic got around to the Beatles and one of the ladies (Joy Behar, I think) mentioned that "Get Back" was really written about Yoko, that "Jojo" was code for Yoko and the song was telling her to "get back to where you once belonged."

First I've ever heard of this, and I thought I knew all the Beatle ULs. Is this news?

From this fan-site
When it was recorded in its final form, it had been transformed to speak of Jojo of Tucson. Linda McCartney had lived in Tucson for a while, which was probably Paul's inspiration for using it. From this, no other story line was evident...

The Yoko-Jojo link just doesn't ring true IMO.

Well, that was your first mistake! [Big Grin]

Well... the Jojo-Yoko rumor, although it might not be TRUE, definetly has a sound basis-- in the 1980 Playboy interview, right before John died, he's talking about his relationship with Paul and how mean Paul was to Yoko and he said that he was sure that every time Paul sang the "Get Back" line he would look at Yoko (who was of course, always in the studio :-) [Thwack]

According to Mark Lewisohn, the very first takes were actually a kind of satire of controversial politics with lines like Don't dig no Pakistanis taking all the people's jobs / Get back to where you once belonged.
