I got this unsolicited from someone I never heard of (guess that makes it spam, huh--and the little disclaimer at the end makes it even spammier). Is there really such an effort underway? If so, why is there no name or web site associated with it? Was there really ever such an "advisor to Churchill?" Given that it's just a silly chain letter, and they're using commercial methods to send it to as many people as possible, who's profiting from this and how?
BTW, the Ameri-centric tone is interesting considering I got this at a German email account!

Subject: Prayer
Dear Family and Friends,
I received this from a friend who sent it to all her address book. I have pretty much done the same and invite you to do so, as well.
I am deeply concerned about the things taking shape between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, especially with Iran and Syria supporting Hezbollah as they are.
I am not an alarmist, but I don't want to be asleep at the wheel. Some are already characterizing this as the beginning of World War III. What I do know is that the potential is there, and there are those who are itching to set it off. There are definite feelings that arise in my soul. I felt I should share it with you.
I don't know anything about the group of people who organized this, but I figure praying together at a set time that alone would be great. So will you join me?
Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless.
In W.W. II there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace.
There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America. If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation.
If you know anyone else who would like to participate, please pass this along. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Together, we "CAN" make a difference!
Thank You, and God Bless America.

What is the critical mass of prayer?
How many prayers does it take to get God's attention?
Do Protestant prayers cancel out Catholic prayers?
How do non-Christian prayers figure in?

So, are they saying that people in Mountain Time Zone shouldn't bother?

I think only foreigners - like the ones in New Mexico - live in the Mountain Time Zone, so they don't count!

It's best that everyone in the world--people of every faith pray for the peace of Planet Earth, not just their own country. And yes God heards the prayers of people of every faith, not just the prayers of Christians.
