I had something similar happen to me. I was at a light in a city (I hate cities) and the light had turned green for me and the don't walk light had come up. Naturally everyone just kept coming. Luckily there wasn't any traffic coming in the opposite direction so I just went into the other lane when an opening came up and went around the asses. Once I was safely out of the way, I slowed down, laid on my horn and gave the finger to the people who had just crossed in front of me then took off. Cowardly, yes but it made me feel a little better.
