Comment: I would like to bring another strange movie moment to your attention to discuss and delve into on your site.
In "The Matrix", it has been verified that it is possible to see star Lawrence Fishburne in the background of one scene, playing table tennis.
I found it impossible to believe myself, until I watched the footage personally. My jaw hit the ground in astonishment.
It takes place in the Nebuchadnezzar scene, around the time when the crew are about to pull the plug on Morpheus.
For about a second, in a corner of the screen, what is unquestionably Fishburne's silhouette is visible in the background moving his arms and torso in a slingshot motion.
It has been inferred that he was playing table tennis with a fellow stagehand at this point. This is made all the more ironic by the fact that his character Morpheus at this time was supposed to be inches from death, yet here he was, bursting with vitality, participating in a strenuous leisure activity.
This rumour has been spreading like wildfire around schoolyards, and has become the topic of much discussion on various radio programs, such as 1278 AM, 3AW Melbourne.
In an interview with 60 Minutes on the Nine Network in Australia, Lawrence Fishburne refused to comment on the matter.

Didn't see it... this reminds me of how on Buffy, they did an "Easter Egg" joke where Buffy would be fighting Evil Willow, Spike, or Angelus in a public place with an audience, and the person she was supposed to be fighting was in the audience watching her while she was taking on the minions. I always thought that was pretty funny.
But I don't see this example for the Matrix. Sorry.

In the scene where the crew are mourning the loss of Morpheus (after he is captured by the agents), in the top-right corner of the screen (just over Tank's shoulder) you can see Laurence Fishburne playing table tennis.
Viewed that part, didn't see it either.

There isn't any mention of it in the IMDB's goof page for The Matrix.

Having worked in film for years, I can tell you that there is no way that anyone on a set during shooting would be playing table tennis. The first AD would have someone's head on a plate (or the ping pong paddle up the offender's hooha) before allowing that to happen. Just before a take, just about everyone within a mile radius knows that shooting is taking place, thanks to really, really loud ADs and PAs and their walkie talkies. "Mistakes" like this do *not* happen. Sure, if the director or producer wanted to throw something funny in the background, they could - but when you're throwing away thousands and thousands of dollars for every minute of footage, discretion is key, and distractions like this would not be smiled upon.
