Meet the newest member of our family! Her name is Sadie and she is a four month old Labrador Retriever. The family that hed her before us decided that they had bitten off more than they could chew when they decided to get a puppy. We were more than happy to take her off their hands.
The people who were holding her are dog trainers and they had already spent several hours training her when we got her. She knows most of the basic commands already and she is so smart. She catches on really fast.
The kids are thrilled to have another dog. Our Pippin died in August and they were heartbroken. They both insist that they still love Pip even though they love Sadie now too.

Friends of mine had a black lab named Sadie! One day my friend's stepfather called, "Big Dumb Dog, come here!" and she did.
She was a great dog. And she wasn't really dumb. Clumsy, but not dumb.
Your Sadie is adorable. Congratulations!

I said "awwwww!" out loud and it made my dog get up and shove her head under my hand for a petting.

Congratulations, and I am jealous. Hopefully the wife and I will get the yard fenced in soon so we can get a dog or two.

I think labs average around 75-80 pounds. She doesn't look like she'll be bigger than normal, her paws aren't all that big. My pure lab had huge paws as a puppy and he got really big for a lab.

What a beautiful pup! Congratulations Are you going to take her to training classes? 4 months is the perfect age to start training.

We are going to take her to training classes. Our first session is next week. As I mentioned, the people who were holding her run a training school and already started with her. She is very good and really enjoys practicing.
She's already almost as big as Pip so I think she will be a fairly good sized dog. No bigger than average for a Lab. Females tend to be a little smaller than males anyway. The family across the road has a purebred Lab male and he is huge!

A friend of mine from the neighborhood has a huge lab... He weighs over 100 lbs and he isn't overweight at all! I petsit for them sometimes.
Here's a pic of him from when I petsat him once. He was 4 months old in this pic and already as big as my Golden (my Golden is actually over the standard's height for females): http://www.chicagocanine.com/dogs/FarGin.jpg
