We just got back from grocery shopping and shopping at Petsmart for Shadow. He's going to be a lucky little kitty--we spent almost $50 on him! Shadow's getting new food and water dishes that conveniently match mommy's kitchen, his very own stocking with cat toys and treats in it, and a green frou-frou collar with jingle bells on it
What's on your pet's Christmaas list?

Some rawhides for my big doggie and a large, plush squirrel squeaky toy for the little one. He loves plush toys that are bigger than his head. He'll just hold it in his mouth and walk around for hours. Plus, stockings full of treats. They are going this weekend to have their pictures taken with Santa.

Both my dogs are getting these ginormous bones with meat still on them I saw in a Petsmart ad. The big old girl will also get some sugar-free treats (she's diabetic) that are too expensive for all the time. The little crazy one will get something that's fluffy and also sqeaks, which she will tear to shreds in less than a day .

My cats will get to share the roast chicken/turkey with me. It will be free range and organic. Though I live alone, I always get chickens that feed all 3 of us (was all 4 until Cindy died recently). I'll also buy some ham scraps at the deli counter and maybe some shrimps. These get rationed as garnish on their canned cat food.
They have plenty of toys, but will probably get some crunchy treats (from my parents and sisters) to exercise their teeth and maybe some lactose-free milk. They don't like the milk-flavour drops or catnip drops.

Some kind of rawhide chewy bones or some other kind of special treats for my mother's dogs.
One year, I bough them those disgusting small dried fish which they love above all, but gives them a breath that should be classified as a weapon of mass destruction. Of course, I planned it so that I went home the same day.
I'm bad to the bone...

We always make our 2 dogs and 2 cats scrambled eggs with cheese on Christmas morning. They all have their own stocking and Delta and Roxy (dogs) are getting new food dishes, new sweaters; new collars; some rawhides, tennis balls and some stuffed toys that Delta can destroy. Inde and Callie (cats) are getting new feather toys; assorted treats; a new electric blanket; and they will some fresh shrimp or crabmeat. I always make homemade pizza on Christmas night and all the pets, except for my female cat (who won't eat it) will get a small piece.

Munchies. I'd like to get a nice new scratching post for my cats, but my budget won't allow. The dogs will get bones to chew on.

The doggie's getting a bed and the cats are getting a drinking fountain - although technically, that's for the dog, too. And one of the cats thinks the bed's for him.
We do a little Chanukah too, and we found blue-and-white catnip mice for the cats and a blue-and-white knobby bouncy toy for the dog.
They each got treats in their stockings.

They are getting free room and board for 12 months. They get free medical care for 12 months for their birthdays.

Our dog is getting six giant rawhides for Christmas. they have them at Wal mart. The check out girl could not believe that all those raw hides were for one dog. We've already given her one. We'll try and get a picture with the other five of them around her and I'll post it maybe later today.

We did some Christmas shopping early for the kitties; they got a new litter box (the round enclosed Booda box with the steps, if you care), and some new toys: Paisley got these little plastic ring things that he can bat around. However he doesn't show much interest in them...I should have just got him some twist-ties..he LOVES those things!! Autumn got a new fishing pole-type toy, with leopard print fabric attached to the pole and a mass of feathers at the end...she is NUTS for it. Even if we're not playing, she'll lay on the floor and groom the feathers

I'm thinking Freya might get some stuffed balls and definitely a kitty bed. Just not sure what kind of kitty bed to buy. She likes hiding but only at times.

Every Christmas, Mom's cat (I don't have animals of my own right now) gets a new fresh catnip toy. We don't buy catnip toys from the toystore, it's got to be the real stuff they sell at the craft fairs. It's not that we're snobby about it or that we are worried about fillers, we just like giving our business to the little guys now and then and this catnip is really good. I almost get a buzz from smelling it.
She's getting a new kitten this year so I'll have to think of something else. I'm sure they'll be busy enough playing together and enjoying the toys they already have so maybe I'll get some kitty treats.

My dogs and cat get Christmas stockings with treats, they're also going to get some new toys in there. My dogs are getting a new dog bed. They also both got new dishes, my terrier got a elevated feeder with dishes with pawprints, and my Golden got a really neat-looking green and black dog dish with a dog bone imprint that's supposed to resemble a sushi rice bowl. My cat is maybe getting a new playmate... I'm not sure if she will consider this a gift or a curse, but we've been looking for a Maine Coon kitten and may have found one... My rats are getting a new bed and all new toys because they had mites so I had to throw out their old toys.
I also always make holiday cookies for the dogs. This is my favorite dog treat recipe for the holidays:
Grandpaw’s Spice Cookies • 1/2 cup honey • 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce • 1/4 cup molasses • 1 egg • 2 1/4 cups white flour • 2 teaspoons baking soda • 1 teaspoon ginger or nutmeg • 1 teaspoon cinnamon • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts Makes approximately 25 golden-baked, paw-natural cookies. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix together honey, applesauce, molasses and egg in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and spices, then stir into the molasses mixture. Drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle a few peanuts on top and pat down gently with your hand. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes then cool on a rack before serving. Store in an airtight container.
All the dogs I've made this for LOVED this.
