Scrolling though Active Topics I read the title as "Janet Jackson's Breasts are Black" and I thought "Well I should think so."

Maybe she learned that there's a lot of people who think it's okay for her to show her breasts (which were actually brown last time I saw them!) and decided not to listen to the prudes who say she shouldn't be allowed to.

I never did unerstand just what all the furor was about. It's not that taboo for women to go topless anymore. If there had to be an outcry, it should have been over the fact that having Justin tear her outer clothes off forcefully like that was supposed to be entertainment.

Yeah!!! She sure did learn that people will say one thing and do another. In this case say how affended they were with the exsposed breast but buying her new albem in record numbers.

I guess it depends on where and when they go topless, and what exactly you mean by "taboo."
I think it's seen as not very shocking for a woman's breasts to be bared in fiction- a fictional film, television show, or play. But in any real-life context it's seen as quite taboo, whether that context be a live broadcast of a real event or a woman walking down the street.

I know it's legal in Ontario for women to go topless. On the other hand legal doesn't mean socially acceptable, but apparently enough people are comfortable with the idea of topless women to vote it in (of course, I believe most lawmakers are male. Hmm...)
