The police chief, the mayor and a councilman in a small town resigned amid an uproar over nude photos of the chief's 300-pound, tattooed wife that she posted on a Web site.

They had to make a decision about this? It wasn't obvious to them? Yikes.

300-pound wife
Does that mean it would've been fine if she was skinny and hot? Why even mention this part? It's amazingly stupid.

quote:
"You know what I call this? I call this a witch hunt," she said.
But haven't you heard? We don't have naked people in America, they don't exist. We're just a bunch of floating heads with no bodies attached, so we can't ever show those obscene things called "bodies."

quote:
"because I've never read anywhere in the Good Book that the Lord wanted us to persecute those that did not hold the same morals or values."
If only the pCm's knew this, maybe this kind of crap wouldn't happen.

quote:
"They have no morals as far as I'm concerned," said Shirley Anderson, who served as mayor in the 1990s and whose husband was mayor before that. "You should have respectable people in office. They need to go somewhere else where this is accepted."
I call attempting to force an official to resign because you don't like the perfectly legal thing his wife does with her body is a far greater threat to moral values than posting a few nude shots on the internet.

So, bring on the arguments. Elected official should be able to control his wife and should know the risks before taking the job, and this is perfectly acceptable, right?

And again I ask, why is the focus of this article about her weight?

My adopted state of Oklahoma has some very nice people residing in it, however, it is in the middle of the "Bible Belt" and some are rather unforgiving, which doesn't seem to be what their Christianity teaches them. Go figure. In defense of the local yokels, this story was in the newspaper in my little town (not Snyder) a couple of times before the AP story mentioned the woman's weight. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the crime rate and the drug problem than I am about this woman's nude photos.

C'mon Jay Tempura, that's not funny, as has been pointed out to you by the snopesters above.

If she wants to post nude pics of herself,it is covered under the 1st Amendement. I realize this is the bible belt and all, but I think people have bigger things to worry about than this.

One of the pictures and another article. Don't get too excited, the picture is cropped.

He said he has had lengthy discussions with his wife about the photos but does not tell her what to do.

"My wife is 6-foot-3 and weighs 300 pounds," he said. "If there is somebody that thinks they can control her, have at it. I have tried for 11 years and haven't been able to."

Doris Ozmun is known worldwide for her work as a plus-sized model on a pornographic Web site.

But I love the part that she's using a US flag as a backdrop and a drape. She helps make my point that there are worse things you can do with a flag than burn it in a political demonstration.

They should just pass a law that all women in Oklahoma must wear burkas all the time...
It will save them from future scandals...

[fish] And, they should pass a law that 24-year-old web designers in California should wear sacks over their heads.

Aren't we just too funny for our shirts? [lol]

Well first you should ask why your kid where he heard that from. Then you should try to teach your kid the difference between 'nudity' and 'porn'. If this is too much for you, do invest in burkas.

The woman in question does do porn though so while I agree it is important for people to learn to differentiate between nudity and porn, in this specific situation, where is the difference?

There were some other pictures on the web of her giving a BJ. Some of the pictures were of just her posing. While I thought she was a big lady, I didn't realize she was 6'3" and weighed 300 pounds.
Some of the questions that were asked on the news were:
Where did she take the BJ pictures?
Was her husband present or even in the pictures?

I do think the pictures of her posing while not that flattering to her, were OK to be posted. If he husband was the person in the picture of the BJ or if he took the picture, then he should be fired. I don't think it is legal for a police officer (or cheif) to be participating in porn.

What?! Why in the world not? How does participating in porn affect his ability to be an effective police chief?

Many departments have policies in place prohibiting officers from either appearing in port/nude pictures or from using their actual uniforms when doing so. So he could be fired for that if those policies were in place. But I don't know of any actual laws to that effect.

IIRC, it wasn't the shoe bomber's loud prayers that sparked the takedown by the other passengers; it was that he was trying to light his shoe on fire. Very, very different. Canuckistan
