I've seen this posted on another board. The way it was presented there was that it was pretty funny that the newscaster looked like the composite, not that he really was the one they were looking for. That seems reasonable to me, but I personally haven't heard the true story about this pic.

I didn't think the newscaster was the actual offender -- just that it was a funny coincidence. Was wondering if it was a real thing, or a Photoshop job.

This appears to be the anchor, from KABC in Los Angeles. A quick search on their site didn't turn up the story but I didn't look all that hard nor was I able to watch any of the associated video.

He does bear some similarity, but only to the extent that he's black, has a moustach, and has short-cropped hair. Let's see, how many people out there would fit that description?
To me he doesn't look *that* much like the composite. The man they're looking for is skinnier, for one.
I guess that's the problem with composite pics - they can too easily look like just about anyone.

It's the deer-in-the-headlights expression that gets a giggle out of me, anyway.

Yeah, it's a cute concept...but I can't see any actual resemblance at all. Two black guys, same moustache, same hairline, that's about it.

I think their general face shape is slightly similar as well, but the anchorman has a much more youthful face.

The thing about composite pictures is that the person describing them can be very influenced by things he or she has seen (in this case She) she could watch him on the news everyday. I agree that there is a slight resembalence but nothing major.

I'd say he looks pretty similar given the nature of composite sketches - about as much like half the people end up looking like their own sketch, anyhow. Then again, I've never been great with faces.
Along with that, it's also the similarity in expressions... full-on face shot, eyes open around the same width, mouth slightly agape.
I thought it was funny when I saw it, anyhow. *shrugs*
