I have a Logitech cordless controller for my XBOX. I've noticed lately that the green A button seems to be sticking. Would anyone have suggestions for how to clean it to keep this from happeneing?

I used to pop apart SNES/Genesis controllers and clean the buttons whenever they stuck. *looking at my Xbox controllers* But these are a little more complex [Razz] This might help? ((I don't have a cordless controller so I don't know how much different they are))

Now if you can figure out how to keep a button on a DDR dance mat from sticking, I'll be really happy [Smile]

Read the manual. It has cleaning instructions.

XBox Controller Cleaning Tutorial

This is a tutorial for an OEM controller, but it might work with aftermarket controllers as well.

Logitech makes piece of shit controllers. If you have the reciept, take it back. If not, throw it away and buy a Saitek.

I haven't had any trouble with this XBOX one or the PS2 Logitec controllers except recently when the button started sticking. Have you had some sort of bad experience?

My cheap-ass Logitech gamepad has worked flawlessly for the past two years.

I just can't understand why an otherwise moderately sane person would throw out the manual to a delicate piece of electronics. Some people...

Well you know how it is, you move a few times and you have to make those important decisions as to what makes it and what doesn't.

Sticky buttons? I didn't know you could surf for porn on the XBox!

Sorry, cheap shot, but I had to take it.

If may be some kind of spill (Coca Cola does it just fine...), has happened to me. What you do then is:

1. Unplug it from the XBox.

2. Carefully open it and take it apart. Don't take anything apart that does not go apart willingly.

3. Clean all the parts, except the motors for the vibration, by holding them under the tap, using large amounts of clean tap water. Temperature is not important, I usually use pretty hot water as it cleans better and dries quicker. Don't drop small parts down the drain, that's stupid.

4. Shake off as much water as you can.

5. Leave it to dry overnight.

6. Put it all together again.

7. Plug it in.

It may look like a lot of steps and scary and difficult, but it's really quite easy. Just be calm, take is slowly and remember where everything should go and there is not much that can go wrong. Some common sense and a screwdriver is all you need.

Works just fine, I've used this method for game controllers, remote controls, keyboards and a batterycharger where someone had tried to recharge non rechargable batteries which had leaked all over the thing.

Just make sure it's properly dry before you plug it in.

Just to add to Troberg's steps, make sure it is dry before using. If some parts are still wet you may short something out.

for stuck buttons, I've use a greased toothpick to get in and lube the space between the chassis and the button without opening the chassis.

Ok, so I was quite nervous about doing it, but I opened up the case for the controller and cleaned up the bottins and the slots that buttons reside in. It wasn't as bad as I tought it would be. I was nervous that small parts would fall out and I might not be able to get the thing back together that way it was intended.

I've been known to open up a piece of equipment and have extra parts left over when I've finished with it [lol]
